Özet
Bu çalışma babaların babalık beklentileri ve bebeğe bağlanma düzeyleri ile postpartum depresyon ve tükenmişlik arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma prospektif longitudinal tipte bir izlem çalışmasıdır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Balıkesir Üniversitesi Sağlık Uygulama ve Araştırma Hastanesi Kadın Doğum Polikliniğine rutin kontrol amacıyla başvuran gebelerin eşleri oluşturmaktadır (n=168). Araştırmada eşlerinin gebelik döneminde baba adaylarına Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Babalık Beklentileri Ölçeği ve Rahim İçi Bebek Bağlanma Ölçeği uygulanarak veriler toplanmıştır. Doğum sonrası dönemde bebeklerinin 4. ayında babalar ile telefonda görüşülerek online anket formları Whatsapp aracılığıyla gönderilip, Google Forms üzerinden Baba Bebek Bağlanma Ölçeği, Anne Baba Tükenmişlik Ölçeği ve Edinburg Postpartum Depresyon Ölçeği, uygulanarak tüm veriler toplanmıştır (n=121). Bu çalışmada Doğum Öncesi Babalık Beklentileri toplam puanı artıkça ile Rahim İçi Bebek Bağlanma Ölçeği toplam puanının azaldığı bulunmuştur (p<0.001). Ayrıca Rahim İçi Bebek Bağlanma Ölçeği ile yaşayan çocuk sayısı (p=0.008) arasında anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmıştır. Çalışmada Baba Bebek Bağlanma Ölçeği puanı artarken Anne Baba Tükenmişlik Ölçeği puanı (p=0.043) ve Edinburg Postpartum Depresyon puanının azaldığı belirlenmiştir (p<0.001). Ayrıca eşinin yaşı 31 yaş ve üstünde olan babaların Anne Baba Tükenmişlik Ölçeği puanının anlamlı şekilde yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur (p=0.024). Edinburg Postpartum Depresyon Ölçeği toplam puanı artıkça Anne Baba Tükenmişlik Ölçeği toplam puanının da artığı çalışmada belirlenmiştir (p<0.001). Sonuç olarak; babaların gerçekçi olmayan babalık beklentilerinin rahim içi bağlanma düzeyini etkilediği, daha önce yaşayan çocuğu olmayan babalarda rahim içi bağlanma düzeyinin daha yüksek olduğu, doğum sonrası bebeğine bağlanma düzeyi yüksek olan babalarda postpartum depresyon ve tükenmişlik düzeylerinin azaldığı ve eşinin yaşı ile tükenmişlik arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu çalışmada saptanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda sağlık profesyonellerinin doğum öncesi dönemde babaların gerçekçi olmayan olumlu ve olumsuz babalık beklentilerinin ve rahim içi bebeğe bağlanma düzeylerinin belirlenmesi ve bu konuda babalara danışmanlık sağlanması çok önemlidir. Ayrıca doğum sonrası dönemde baba bebek bağlanmasının tükenmişlik ve depresyon açısından belirleyici bir faktör olduğu düşünüldüğünde baba bebek bağlanması konusunda babalara destek verilmesi gereklidir.

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between fathers' expectations of fatherhood and their level of attachment to the baby, and postpartum depression and burnout. The study is a prospective longitudinal follow-up study. The sample of the study consists of the husbands of pregnant women who visited the Obstetrics Clinic of Balıkesir University Health Application and Research Hospital for routine check-ups (n=168). In the study, data were collected by administering the Personal Information Form, the Fatherhood Expectations Scale, and the Intrauterine Infant Attachment Scale to the husbands during their wives' pregnancies. In the postpartum period, fathers were interviewed by telephone when their babies were 4 months old, and online questionnaires were sent via WhatsApp. The Father-Infant Bonding Scale, Parent Burnout Scale, and Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale were administered via Google Forms, and all data were collected (n=121). This study found that as the total score for Prenatal Fatherhood Expectations increased, the total score for the Intrauterine Infant Attachment Scale decreased (p<0.001). Furthermore, a significant relationship was found between the Intrauterine Infant Attachment Scale and the number of living children (p=0.008). The study determined that as the Father-Infant Bonding Scale score increased, the Mother-Father Burnout Scale score (p=0.043) and the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression score decreased (p<0.001). Furthermore, it was found that fathers whose wives were aged 31 years and above had significantly higher Parent Burnout Scale scores (p=0.024). The study also determined that as the total Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale score increased, the total Parent Burnout Scale score also increased (p<0.001). In conclusion, the study found that fathers' unrealistic expectations of fatherhood affect the level of intrauterine bonding, that fathers who have not previously had children have higher levels of intrauterine bonding, that fathers with high levels of bonding with their newborns have lower levels of postpartum depression and exhaustion, and that there is a significant relationship between the mother's age and exhaustion. In this regard, it is crucial for healthcare professionals to identify fathers' unrealistic positive and negative expectations of fatherhood and their levels of intrauterine bonding with the baby during the prenatal period and to provide counseling to fathers on this subject. Furthermore, considering that father-infant bonding is a decisive factor in terms of burnout and depression in the postpartum period, it is necessary to provide support to fathers regarding father-infant bonding.
