SUMMARY By this research, it has been detected that how teachers percept the factors affect his/her career development. The general supportiveness of the factors affects teacher's career development, the variables with which these factors vary and the points those the teachers differs according to variables, tried to be determined. This is a scanning type research, having scale five-likert realized by researcher. The working space of researcher is the teachers of the public high schools of Istanbul Province, Kadıköy and Maltepe towns.. The average of the answers to the research items of the teachers generally shows meaningfulness according to variables of career phases, the causes of preference of the job and their in-job education positions from the supportiveness point of view.. The average of the teachers generally shows meaningfulness at 1 dimension according to gender variable, at 1 dimension according to branch variable, at 3 dimensions according to career phase variable, at 5 dimensions according in-job education status, and finally at 2 dimensions according the year of in-job education.. While determined in accordance with different items based, showed meaningfulness at 32 items. The differentiation is like this: 17 items according to gender, 11 items according to age, 2 items according to marital status, 6 items according to number of children, 5 items according to branches, 5 items according to graduation status, 12 items according to career phases, 12 items according to reason of preference, 6 items according to in-job education status, 3 items according to the total number of in-job education. At the end of research, it seems that the gender of teachers, reasons of preferences, and career phases are important variables at career development of teacher. While looking at the factors that affects the career development of teacher; it seems it has been affected from the factors except itself. Depending on the data obtained it can be said that, the career development of teachers had not been based on regular and sustainable structure.
