LİSE 1. SINIF öğrencilerine periyodik cetvel ÖĞRETİMİNDE YENİ BİR YAKLAŞIM (Yüksek Lisans Tezi) Mehmet KIPIK GAZİ ÜNİVERSİTESİ FEN BİLİMLERİ ENSTİTÜSÜ Haziran 2001 ÖZET Bu çalışmada Lise 1. sınıf öğrencilerine, anlamakta zorlandıkları periyodik cetvel konusu iki farklı yöntemle verildi. Daha sonra bu iki yöntemin başarıya etkileri karşılaştırıldı. Şu anda liselerde verilmekte olan periyodik cetvel anlatımı“geleneksel anlatım yöntemi”olarak alındı. Bizim önerdiğimiz yöntem ise elektron dizilişine göre cetvel oluşturarak ve gerektiği kadar bütünleştirici öğretim yöntemini kullanarak, uygulanan yöntemdir. Araştırma, İstanbul Özel Güneşli Lisesinde aynı öğretmenin derse girdiği iki ayrı sınıfta öğrenim gören 50 lise birinci sınıf öğrencisinin katılımıyla gerçekleştirildi. Çalışma 2000-2001 öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde yapıldı. Periyodik cetvelin öğretimi süresinde sınıflardan biri kontrol grubu diğeri ise deneysel grup olarak belirlendi. Kontrol grubuna geleneksel öğretim yöntemi, deneysel gruba ise önerdiğimiz öğretim yöntemi ile ders anlatıldı. Araştırma altı haftalık sürede tamamlandı ve her iki sınıfta bulunan öğrencilerin, periyodik cetvel ile ilgili başarısını ölçmek ile ilgili kavramsal test, öğrenim öncesi ve sonrası uygulandı.Araştırmada, periyodik cetvel ile ilgili kavram testi öğrencilerin periyodik cetvel konusundaki başarılarını, Bilimsel İşlem Beceri Testi ile de öğrencilerin bilimsel işlem becerilerinin periyodik cetvel konusunu anlamalarına etkisi olup - olmadığı ölçüldü. Bu araştırmanın hipotezlerini test etmek için t-testi kullanıldı. Analiz sonuçları önerdiğimiz öğretim yöntemi ile ders anlatılan öğrencilerin başarılarının, geleneksel öğretim yöntemi ile ders anlatılan öğrencilere göre daha yüksek olduğunu gösterdi. Ayrıca öğrencilerin bilimsel işlem becerilerinin ve periyodik cetvel ile ilgili önceki bilgilerinin onların başarılarında önemli bir etken olduğu sonucuna varıldı. u A NEW APPROACH IN PERIODIC TABLE INSTRUCTION FOR FIRST YEAR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT (M.Sc. Thesis) Mehmet KIPIK GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY June 2001 ABSTRACT In this study, the subject of periodic table which is hard to understand was taught by giving two different methods in first year high school students. The effects of those methods were comparatively examined. Periodic table has been given to students with traditional instructional method recently. Our proposed method is current method by making table recording to electron configuration and using enough constructive approach method. The study was realised in two different classes with a total student of 50 though by the same teacher in the second term of 2000-2001 academic year. One class was taken as the control and the second one as an experimental class. The control group was thought with the traditional instruction method while the our proposed method was employed in the experimental group. The study was carried out for a period of six weeks and both groups were subjected a conceptual test, designed to determine the success of the student inIV the realisation of concepts related with periodic table, before and after study. The conceptual test was used in order to measure the success of the students in understanding of the concepts of the periodic table and the scientific calculation skill test was employed in order to determine whether the scientific calculation skills of the students and any effect in their understanding of periodic table concepts. The hypotheses of this study were put into test by the use oft-test The results of these analyses indicated that the success of the students taught with restructuring approach was higher those taught with the traditional instruction method. It was also concluded that the scientific calculation skills of the students and their previous knowledge were important factors in this success.
