Dr. Ahmet Ok Aralık 2002, 113 sayfa Bu çalışmanın amacı, uygulanan Okul Deneyimi II ve Öğretmenlik Uygulaması çalışmaları ile öğretmen adaylarının Okul Deneyimi II ve Öğretmenlik Uygulaması çalışmalarından beklentileri arasındaki fark ve öğretmen adaylarının Okul Deneyimi II ve Öğretmenlik Uygulaması çalışmalarının gereklilikleri yerine getirme, çalışmalardan faydalanma, işbirliği içinde bulunma ve bilgilendirilme sıklıklarım öğretmen adaylarının görüşleri doğrultusunda araştırmaktır. Bu çalışmanın ömeklemini Türkiye'nin farklı bölgelerinden yedi farklı üniversitesindeki İngilizce Öğretmenliği 4. sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmuştur. Örneklemdeki öğrenci adayları, Okul Deneyimi II dersini 4. Sınıfın ilk dönemi, Öğretmenlik Uygulaması dersini ise aynı yılın ikinci dönemi almışlardır. Veri toplama işlemi iki aşamada gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlk aşamada Okul Deneyimi II ile ilgili veriler toplanmıştır. Bu aşamada, çalışmaya 491 öğretmen adayı katılmıştır. İkinci aşamada Öğretmenlik Uygulaması ile ilgili veriler toplanmıştır. Bu aşamada çalışmaya 23 1 öğretmen adayı katılmıştır.Veriler, İngilizce Öğretmenliği son sınıf öğrencilerine araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan Okul Deneyimi II Anketi (Öğrenci Bilgi Formu, Okul Deneyimi II Anketi, Durum ve Beklenti Ölçeği) ve Öğretmenlik Uygulaması Anketi'nin (Öğrenci Bilgi Formu, Öğretmenlik Uygulaması Anketi, Durum ve Beklenti Ölçeği) uygulanmasıyla toplanmıştır. Bulgular, öğetmen adaylarının Okul Deneyimi II ve Öğretmenlik Uygulamasından beklentilerinin yaşananlardan farklı olduğunu ve beklentilerin daha yüksek olduğunu göstermiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar, Okul Deneyimi II ve Öğretmenlik Uygulamasında yaşananlar arasında cinsiyete göre bir farklılık olmadığım göstermiştir. Diğer yandan kız öğrencilerin Okul Deneyimi II' den beklentilerinin erkek öğrencilere göre daha yüksek olduğu gözlenmiştir. Bulgular, öğretmen adayı öğrencilerin, öğretmenlik uygulamasından beklentilerinin değişik İngilizce Öğretmenliği bölümlerine göre farklılık göstermediğini ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca betimleyici istatistikler, aday öğretmenlerin genellikle Okul Deneyimi II ve Öğretmenlik uygulamaları çalışmalarının gerekliliklerini yerine getirebildiklerini, buradaki aktivitelerden yarar sağlayabildiklerini, bilgilendirildiklerini ve işbirliği yapabildiklerini göstermiştir.

ABSTRACT FIELD EXPERIENCE AND ITS APPLICATION IN ELT IN TURKEY Akbey Yüzbaşıoğlu, Sema M. Sc, Department of Educational Sciences Supervisor: Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ok December 2002, 113 pages The purpose of the study was to investigate the difference between the experienced field practice (School Experience II, Teaching Practice) and expected field practice according to the perceptions of the student teachers and also to investigate the frequency of the student teachers' fulfilling the requirements, their benefits, their cooperation and their being informed both at School Experience II and at the Teaching Practice activities. The subjects of this study were 4th year student teachers of English Language Teaching (ELT) Departments, from seven different universities in Turkey, in different regions. The subjects were supposed to take School Experience II in the first semester of the 4th year of teacher education program and Teaching Practice in the second semester of the same year. Data collection was carried out in two steps. In the first step data about school Experience II was collected. In this step 491 student teachers iiiparticipated in the study. In the second step data about Teaching Practice activities was collected. In this step 23 1 student teachers participated in the study. The data were gathered by administering a questionnaire for School Experience II that contains, The Student Information Form, The School Experience II Scale and Present Conditions & Expectations Scale and a questionnaire for the Teaching Practice that contains, The Student Information Form, The Teaching Practice Scale and Present Conditions & Expectations Scale that was prepared by the researcher. The findings indicated that the student teachers' expectations were higher than their experiences in both School Experience II activities and Teaching Practice activities. It was observed that gender effected what student teachers experienced neither at School Experience II nor in Teaching Practice activities. On the other hand the results showed that female student teachers' expectations were higher than male student teachers' in expected School Experience n. However, gender did not effect student teachers' expectations in Teaching Practice. Expectations of the student teachers were the same at every ELT department and their success effected their experience in Teaching Practice activities. Also, student teachers generally, fulfilled the requirements, benefited from the activities, cooperated, and were informed at School Experience II activities and Teaching Practice activities.
