Özet
ÖZET * * Beş bölüm ve dört ekten oluşan bu çalışma, yazma becerisinin öğretiminde görsel gereçlerin önemini belirleyerek Jandarma Lisan Okulu'nda yazma derslerini daha verimli hale getirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Birinci bölümde, yazma becerisinin önemi ve görsel gereçlerin gerekliliğine kısaca değinilmiş, çalışmanın amacı ve izlenecek yöntemden bahsedilmiştir. İkinci bölümde, yazma becerisi ve görsel gereçler hakkında ayrıntılı bilgiler verilmiş ve yazma becerisinin öğretiminde kullanılan değişik metodlardan bahsedilmiştir. Ayrıca, görsel gereçlerin bazı yabancı dil öğretim metodlarındaki yeri de tartışılmıştır. Bu bölümün son kısmında yazma becerisi ve görsel gereçler birleştirilmiş ve bunlarla ilgili değişik aktiviteler sunulmuştur. Üçüncü bölümde, uygulanan anketlerle ilgili detaylı bilgiler verilmiştir. Ardından, bu anketlerin sonuçları ve değerlendirilmesi ayrıntılı bir şekilde sapılmıştır. Dördüncü bölümde, uygulanan anketlerin sonuçlarına bağlı olarak, temel, orta ve ileri seviyelerde görsel gereçlerin yazma becerisinde kullanımıyla ilgili bilgi verilmiş ve örnek aktiviteler sunulmuştur. Beşinci ve son bölümde, bu çalışmanın sonucu ele alınmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın dört eki bulunmaktadır. Birinci ek, ALC kitap serisindeki yazma becerisinin hedeflerinden, ikinci ek, Jandarma İngilizce Kursu öğretim programından, üçüncü ek öğrencilere uygulanan anketten, dördüncü ek ise öğretmenlere uygulanan anketten oluşmaktadır. 111

ABSTRACT This study, which consists of five chapters and four appendices, aims at making writing lessons more fruitful by specifying the role of visuals in Gendarme Foreign Language Department. In the first chapter, the importance of the writing skill and the necessity of the visual aids are given briefly and the aim of the study and the method followed are stated. In the second chapter, detailed information is given about the writing skill and visual aids. Later, different methods and approaches are mentioned in the teaching of writing skill. In addition, the place of visual aids in some of the language teaching methods is discussed. In the last part of this chapter, the writing skill and visual aids are combined and a group of relevant activities are presented. In the third chapter, detailed information is given about the questionnaires applied. Next, the results of the questionnaires and their evaluation are stated in detail. In the fourth chapter, some information about the use of visuals in the teaching of writing skill at the elemantary, intermediate and advanced level is given by basing on the results of the questionnaires. Furthermore, sample activities and materials are presented. In the fifth and last chapter, the conclusion to this study is drawn. The present study has four appendices. The first one covers the targets of writing skill in ALC series and the second one is the English course syllabus in Gendarme Foreign Language Department. The third one is the learners' questionnaire and the last one is the teachers' questionnaire. IV
