Dr. Ünal ÖZDEMİR Bu çalışmanın amacı, dokuzuncu sınıf coğrafya öğretim programının öğretim sürecindeki mevcut durumu ve karşılaşılan güçlükleri, öğretmen ve öğrenci görüşleriyle ortaya koymaktır. Araştırma, coğrafya öğretmenleri ve öğrencilerin görüşlerinin incelenmesine yönelik anket modeline uygun, betimsel bir araştırmadır. Genel ortaöğretim kurumlarında çalışan coğrafya öğretmenleri ile dokuzuncu sınıf öğrencileri araştırmanın evrenini oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak, öğretim üyeleri ve EARGED uzmanlarının yardımlarıyla hazırlanan, anket formları kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS'de bağımsız değişkenlere göre frekans (f), yüzde (%). ki-kare (x2). varyans (F) ve t-testi teknikleriyle analiz edilmiştir. Okullarımızdaki uygulamalar birbirine çok yakın ve örnekleme katılan okulların çok büyük bir kısmının düz lise olmasına rağmen, beklenmedik sıra dışı durumların ortaya çıkmasından bir standardın yakalanmadığı sonucu çıkarılabilir. Farklı kaynaktan gelenler ve farklı hizmet öncesi sebebiyle coğrafya öğretmenleri konusunda asgari bir düzeyin oluşturulamadığı anlaşılıyor. Program ve uygulamalarda göze batan bir başka sorun da güncelliktir. Araç-gereç ve materyal eksikliğinin sanıldığından daha ciddi boyutlarda olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Öğretmenlerin katıldıkları hizmet içi eğitim kurslarının adını ve konusunu tam olarak yazamamaları etkinliklerin ciddiyetini ortaya koyma açısından önemlidir. Bulgulardan hareketle öğretmen ve öğrenciler arasındaki iletişimin zayıf olduğu söylenebilir. Öğrenciler coğrafi bilgiyi ne zaman ve nasıl kullanacaklarını bilmedikleri için coğrafya derslerine gereken ilgiyi göstermemektedirler. Coğrafya branş öğretmeni olmayanların coğrafya derslerinde ne derece başarılı olacakları ise tartışmalıdır. Dokuzuncu sınıf coğrafya öğretim programı, taslak veya ayrıntılı program tartışmaları bir tarafa, coğrafya öğretmenlerinin de aktif katılımı ile yeniden yapılandırılmalıdır.

Dr. Ünal ÖZDEMİR The aim of this study is to determine the present situation of ninth class geography teaching curriculum in the teaching process and the hardships that are met together with the opinions of teachers and students. This is a descriptive study, suitable for questionnaire model and aciming at investigating the opinions of geography teachers and students. Geography teachers in general secondary school institutions and ninth class students constitute the focal point of the study. To obtain date, questionnaire forms prepared by teaching staff and EARGED specimen were used. The data obtained were analyzed by using frequency (f), percent (%), chi- square (x2), variant (F), and t-test techniques according to the independent variants in SPSS. Although the practice in our schools are close to each other and most of those schools are normal high schools, it can be concluded that no standard has been obtained since some extraordinary situations emerged. Because of different sources and different pre-service, it is understood that not a minimal level has been obtained on geography teachers. Currency is another problem met in curriculum and applications. It has become clear that insufficiency of necessary materials is more than expected. Teachers are not able to write the full names of inservice education courses and themes and this is important in the name of the seriousness of these activities. In the light of data obtained, it can be claimed that there is a weak relationship between teachers and students. Since the students do not exactly know when and how to use the the geographical knowledge they do not show the necassary interest in geography courses. Jt is open to discussion that if teachers of other branches teach geography curriculum, should be reconstituted with the active participation of geography teachers, leaving aside the detailed curriculum discussions.
