Özet
oz Bu çalışmanın ana konusu görsel ve zihinsel süreçler ile akılda tutma ve hatırlamayı içeren karmaşık okuma sürecidir. Öğrencilerin okuma becerilerini geliştirebilmek için bu süreç tüm bileşenleri ile çözümlenmeli ve anlaşılmalıdır. Bu çalışmanın erek kitlesi olan İstanbul Üniversitesi Hasan Âli Yücel Eğitim Fakültesi Yabancı Diller Eğitimi Bölümü İngiliz Dili Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı 1. sınıf öğrencilerinin sorunları metinlerin gerek yapısal gerekse bağlamsal olarak anlaşılması yönündedir. Bu sorunlar çalışma öncesi hazırlanan sormaca soruları ile tespit edilmiştir. Sormaca araştırması sonuçlarına göre erek Öğrenci kitlesinin Okuma Becerileri I ve II dersleri için bir ön izlence önerilmektedir. Bu ön izlence şunları içermektedir: - metinlerin yapısal olarak çözümlenmesi ve öğrencilerin bu yapısal ipuçlarını metni anlamada kullanmalarını sağlamak, - öğrencilerin okumayı amaca göre değişen etken bir süreç olarak kabul etmeleri sağlandıktan sonra metin içi bağlamsal bilgilerin ve öğrencilerin artalan bilgisinin metni anlama sürecinde kullanılmasını sağlamak, - İngiliz Dili Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı öğrencilerini gelecekteki öğretim ve meslek yaşamlarına hazırlamak için“okuma öğretiminin öğretimi”üzerine etkinlikler önermek. Yukarda belirtilen özellikleri ile bu çalışma öneri olarak görevini yerine getirmektedir. ABSTRACT The main subject of this study is the reading process, a complicated process including visual, mental processes, retention and recall. This process needs to be understood and analysed with its all components in order to be able to develop reading skills of the students. For the target students of the study (Istanbul University, Hasan Âli Yücel Faculty of Education, Department of Foreign Language Teaching, English Language Teaching Division, First Year students) the problems stem from both the structural and the contextual comprehension of the texts. These problems have been determined by a questionnaire prepared in the pre-research stage. According to the questionnaire, the research results have been formulated and suggested as a proto-syllabus for the target group of students' Reading Skills I and II lessons. The items covered by the proto-syllabus are as follows: - structural analysis of texts and making the students use structural clues to comprehend texts, - making the students accept reading as an active process changing according to reading objectives and use textual context and background information in comprehending texts, - preparing them for their future education and posts, arranging some activities to teach and practise“teaching of reading and reading skills”(since the students study at English Language Teaching Division). Depending on all the points explained above, this study achieves its goal as a suggestion. m
