Özet

ÖZET Samuel Beckett' in sanatı için genellikle, anlamsız ve nihilistik olduğu, sadece hayatın karanlık tarafını ya da çözülemeyen ontolojikal sorunlarını vurguladığı düşünülür. Bu tez anlamsızı ve nihilistiği doğrulayarak, bu türdeki sınırlı görüşleri aşıp yeni bir bakış açışım sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu aşamada kullandığım yöntem, Deleuze ve Guattari, Foucault ve Derrida'mn düşünceleri gibi çağdaş Fransız felsefesine yakın bulunulabilir. Poststructuralist Felsefeciler“olmak (becoming)”,“yinelemek (repetition)”,“çoğulculuk (multiplication)”,“sonsuzluk (endlessness)”,“oluşum (in-processness)”gibi fikirlere çok önem vermektedirler. Aynı zamanda bu fikirler Beckett'in eserinde de ana konseptlerdir. Burada bulunan analizde, Beckett'in pozitif görüşünü ortaya çıkarmak için bu konseptler kullanılarak Three Novels'in deliliği incelenmiştir. Bu tez, üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Her bölüm, Beckett'in ardışık öykülerinden birini ve onu temsil eden bir felsefe kitabını işlemektedir. Birinci bölümde, Molloy'un içsel ayırım olayını araştırmak için, Deleuze ve Guattari'nin Anti-Oedipus'u çözümlenmektedir, ikinci bölümde, Madness and Civilization' da. Foucault'un tarihe bakış açısı, Malone Dies'da. vurgulanan doğruluk, kesinlik ve özün mantıklığı gibi felsefe sorunlarıyla karşılaştırılmaktadır.. Üçüncü bölümde, öznenin kendi bilincinden gerçek özgürlüğüne kavuşma ihtimalini soruşturmak için Structure, Sign, and Ploy in the Discourse of the Human Sceiences'teiki Derrida'mn“oyun”konsepti uygulamaya konulmuştur. Bu tezin amacı, Three Novels'in sonsuz sonunu vurgulayarak Beckett'in sanatındaki gizlenen temayı aydınlatmaktır. vı

ABSTRACT Beckett's art has been traditionally accused of being absurd and nihilistic, focusing the dark side of life and the unsolvable ontological issues. This thesis intends to surpass such limited view and offer a new reading of the text, which affirms even what is considered meaningless or nihilistic, and which, in that way, aligns with contemporary French philosophy, specifically, the thoughts of Deleuze and Guattari, Foucault and Derrida. The poststructuralists stress the notions of becoming, repetition, multiplication, endlessness and in-processness that are all fundamental to Beckett's work. In the present analysis, the madness of Three Novels is studied in association with these notions to uncover its positive aspect. It is divided into three chapters; each dealing with one of the consecutive narratives and the philosophical text that conceptually embodies the ideas represented in the former. In Chapter 1, Deleuze and Guattari's schizoanalysis in Anti-Oedipus is used to explore Molloy's internal split nature. In Chapter 2, Foucault's view of history in Madness and Civilization is compared with the problems of truth, certainty and the self's rationality in Malone Dies. In Chapter 3, Derrida's concept of 'play' in Structure, Sign, and Play in the Discourse of the Human Sciences is applied to investigate the possibility of the subject's emancipation from his own consciousness. By emphasizing the endless ending of Three Novels, the object of this thesis is to illuminate the underlying positiveness of Beckett's art: Reading is not a quest for absolute meaning but is an endless journey that has no particular destination.
