Özet
KISA ÖZET Kendini Gözlemenin Krishnamurti'nin Özgürlük Anlayışındaki Rolü Madlen Bilginer Özgürlük, her an 'olanı' saf gözlem (gözleyen ve gözlenenin birliği) halinde gören bir zihin durumudur. Krishnamurti'ye göre 'olanı' görmek için özgürlük zorunluluktur. Özgürlük için de gözlem zorunluluktur. Bu görüş döngüseldir ve özgür olmayanlar için uygulanamaz gibi görünmektedir. Bu tezde uygulanabilirliliği daha kolay olan ve gözlemek için başta özgürlüğün zorunlu olmadığı kendini gözleme fikrim tanıtıyorum. Tezin ilk bölümlerindeki bilgiler Krishnamurti'nin özgürlük ve gözlemle ilgili bütün konuşmaları incelenerek hazırlanmıştır. Kendini-gözleme ile ilgili bölümlerde Gürdijeffin kendini gözleme ile ilgili çalışmalarına katılıp oradan elde ettiğim bilgi ve gözlemlerimi kullandım. Gestalt'm farkındalık ve kendini gözlemleme ile ilgili eğitimlerinden faydalandım. 16 senelik meditasyon ve kendini gözlemleme ile ilgili birikimlerimi gözden geçirdim. Kendini gözlemenin özgürlükle ilişkisinde aşağıdaki bulguları öneriyorum. Kendini gözlemde olanı görmek için özgürlük bir zorunluluk değildir. Özgürlük için kendim gözlemek gereklidir ama yeterli değildir. Bütün durumları dikkatle gözlemek, bakmak, izlemek ve algılamak, değişim sürecinin ilk adımıdır. Kişi ancak kendinin algısında olduğunda - ki bu kendini gözleme ile oluşur- gerçek değişim için şansı olabilir. Kişi ancak o zaman bilincini yükseltebilir, kendini yaratabilir ve kendi potansiyellerini hayatta kullanabilir.

ABSTRACT The Role of Self-Observation in Krishnamurti's Understanding of Freedom by Madlen Bilginer Freedom is a state of the mind in which the mind is in a state of pure observation (the observer is the observed), of 'what is' at every moment. For Krishnamurti freedom is necessary to observe 'what is' and observation is necessary for freedom. This is circular and it seems inapplicable to people who are not free. In this thesis I introduce the notion of self-observation in which freedom is not necessary to observe and for that reason it is easier to apply. The method for gathering data was study of all of Krishnamurti's talks about freedom and observation. For the self observation that is introduced in thesis, I used the data and observations that I gathered -in Gurdijeff s self observation work groups -in Geştalt awareness and observation workshops -by observing myself -by reviewing 16 years of experience in meditation and self observation. I propose the following account of the relation of self observation to freedom. In self observation freedom is not necessary to observe what is. For freedom self observation is necessary but not sufficient. To observe, look, watch, and perceive all these states with attention, is the first step in the process of change. With attention and awareness of what is in a person, a transformation may happen. Once one perceives who one is -which happens through self observation- then there is a real chance to change, alter the consciousness, create oneself and use one's potentials in life. IV
