Özet (Çeviri)

ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to examine teacher's and administrator's perceptions towards transformational leadership qualities of principals in primary schools. The sample of the study consists of 34 administrators and 337 teachers working for primary schools in Denizli. Transformational Leadership Scale developed by the researcher and a questionnaire to determine the demographic characteristics of the subjects were administered in order to collect data. The data collected were analysed to compute descriptive statistics and Marm-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test were used to test whether there was any significant differences between teachers' and administrators' perceptions. Results show that not only primary school education administrators perceived themselves as transformational leaders but also teachers perceived their administrators as transformational leaders. However there was a significant difference between administrators' and teachers' perceptions in fevor of administrators. Transformational Leadership was viewed to be an invaluable aspect of schools by both actaiinistrators and teachers, indicating no significant difference between the view of two groups. Also, the analyses of the data related to the dependent (the degree of agreement on transformational leadership qualities and importance of these qualities in school management) and independent ( gender, seniority, education, social-economic level of school district, the frequency of following the literature, taking inservice training about administration) variables showed that; the relationship between the social-economic level of school district and the degree of agreement on transformational leadership qualities of teachers; the relationship between the social-economic level, the frequency of following the literature and the importance of transformational leadership qualities in school management of teachers were found significant. The educational implications of the findings have been discussed and some recommendations for educators and researchers have been proposed.
