ÖZET SOSYAL BİLGİLER ÖĞRETİMİNDE EĞİTSEL OYUNLARIN ERİŞİYE VE KALICILIĞA ETKİSİ Demet ALTINBULAK Yüksek Lisans: Sosyal Bilgiler Eğitimi Tez Danışmanı: Yrd.Doç.Dr. Serap EMİR Yrd.Doç.Dr.Cemal AVCI Ekim 2004, 222 + XVI sayfa Bu çalışmada, Sosyal Bilgiler Dersinin öğretiminde eğitsel oyunların erişiye ve kalıcılığa etkisi incelenmiştir. Bolu İlinde bulunan Atatürk İlköğretim Okulu ve Koç İlköğretim Okulunun 5. sınıf öğrencilerinden iki grup üzerinde ve Sosyal Bilgiler Dersinde yürütülen araştırmada; kontrol grubunda geleneksel öğretim, deney grubunda Eğitsel Oyun işe koşulmuştur. VIAraştırmada veriler, ön test, son test, kalıcılık testi ve tutum ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Bu veriler aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma ve“t”testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular şöyle özetlenebilir: 1. Eğitsel Oyunların uygulandığı deney grubu ile geleneksel öğretimin uygulandığı kontrol grubu arasında bilgi düzeyi erişi puanları açısından anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. 2. Eğitsel Oyunların uygulandığı deney grubu ile geleneksel öğretimin uygulandığı kontrol grubu arasında kavrama düzeyi erişi puanlan açısından anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. 3. Eğitsel Oyunların uygulandığı deney grubu ile geleneksel öğretimin uygulandığı kontrol grubu arasında uygulama düzeyi erişi puanları açısından anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. 4. Eğitsel Oyunların uygulandığı deney grubu ile geleneksel öğretimin uygulandığı kontrol grubu arasında sentez düzeyi erişi puanlan açısından anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. 5. Eğitsel Oyunların uygulandığı deney grubu ile geleneksel öğretimin uygulandığı kontrol grubu arasında toplam erişi puanlan açısından anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. 6. Eğitsel Oyunlann uygulandığı deney grubu ile geleneksel öğretimin uygulandığı kontrol grubu arasında kalıcılık puanlan açısından anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. 7. Eğitsel Oyunlann uygulandığı deney grubu ile geleneksel öğretimin uygulandığı kontrol grubu arasında tutum puanları açısından anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. vııBu araştırmada elde edilen bulgulara dayanılarak, eğitsel oyunların geliştirilmesine ve yeni yapılacak araştırmalara ilişkin öneriler getirilmiştir.

ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF EDUCATIONAL GAMES ON ACHIEVEMENT AND RETENTION IN THE COURSE OF SOCIAL SCIENCE Demet ALTINBULAK Master Thesis for Social Science Teaching Advisors: Asistant Prof. Dr. Serap Emir Asistant Prof. Dr. Cemal AVCI October 2004, Page: 222 + XVI In this research study, the effects of educational games on achievement and retention has been investigated in teaching social science subjects. During the research which has been carried out on two different groups and social studies classes with pupils of grade 5 at Atatürk Elementary School and Koç Elementary School in Bolu, while the experimental group was taught in educational games, the control groups was taught in traditional method. Data have been collected by applying pre-test, post test, retention test and attitude scale. This data are analyzed by using arithmetic means and standard deviation and“t”test. inThe results of the study can be summaried as follows: 1. A significant difference was found between the means of level of knowledge achievement scores of experimental group students taught in educational games and those of control group students taught in traditional method. 2. A significant difference was found between the means of level of comprehension achievement scores of experimental group students taught in educational games and those of control group students taught in traditional method. 3. A significant difference was found between the means of level of application achievement scores of experimental group students taught in educational games and those of control group students taught in traditional method. 4. A significant difference was found between the means of level of synthesis achievement scores of experimental group students taught in educational games and those of control group students taught in traditional method. 5. A significant difference was found between the means of total achievement scores of experimental group students taught in educational games and those of control group students taught in traditional method. 6. A significant difference was found between the means of retention achievement scores of experimental group students taught in IVeducational games and those of control group students taught in traditional method 7. A significant difference was found between the means of total attitude scores of experimental group students taught in educational games and those of control group students taught in traditional method. In this research study, proposals based on findings have also been made for those who intent to develop new educational games and suggest some new research studies.
