Özet
Ülkelerin gelişmesinde eğitim sisteminin önemli bir etkisi olduğu tartışılmaz bir gerçektir. Bir ülkenin gelişmişlik düzeyi kuşkusuz içinde yaşayan insanların niteliği ile doğru orantılıdır. Bireyler ne denli nitelikli olursa ülke o denli gelişmiş olur. Bilindiği gibi nitelikli bireylerin yetişmesinde katkısı olan bilim dallarından biri de matematiktir. Matematik bize sormayı, sorgulamayı, araştırmayı, neden-sonuç ilişkisi kurmayı, çözüm yolları üretmeyi ve soyutlama yapmayı öğretir. Bunun yanında matematik oldukça geniş bir alana yayılmaktadır. Günlük hayatımızın ve doğanın içindedir. Geometri de matematiğin önemli konularından biridir ve insan hayatında oldukça büyük bir yer kaplar. Etrafımızda gördüğümüz her şey birer geometrik yapıya sahiptir. Buna rağmen öğrenciler tarafından anlaşılması güçtür ve soyut, sıkıcı, sevilmeyen olarak nitelendirilir. Oysa, geometri bize içinde yaşadığımız dünyayı tanımamızda ve algılamamızda yardımcı olur (NCTM, 1989:48). NCTM(1989)'ye göre geometri öğretiminin temeli kavramlara dayandırılmalıdır. Bu sebeple çalışmamızın temel amacı; öğrencilerin“temel geometrik kavramların”öğrenilmesinde karşılaştıkları güçlükleri belirlemek, nedenlerini ortaya koymak ve çözüm yollan geliştirmek olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada“Temel Geometrik şekil Kavramlarının Oluşturulması”adlı 48 soruluk bir ölçme aracı ve“Matematik Dersinin İşlenmesinde Kullanılan Yöntem ve Teknikler”adlı bir anket oluşturulmuştur.VIII Veri toplama aracı, Denizli ilinden rasgele seçilen 242 deneğe uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin analizi için SPSS istatistik programı kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçlan aşağıdaki noktalara ışık tutması açısından önemlidir. 1. Öğrencilerin temel geometri kavramlarını algılamasında karşılaştıkları güçlüklerin temelleri neye dayanır? 2. Öğrencilerde oluşmuş ve oluşmamış geometrik kavramlar nelerdir? Bu kavramlarla ilgili kavram yanılgıları var mıdır? 3. Geometri derslerinin işlenişinde kullanılan öğretim yöntem ve tekniklerin kavram oluşumuna etkisi var mıdır? 4. Anne ve babaların eğitim düzeyleri ile geometrik kavram oluşumu arasındaki ilişki nedir? 5. Geometrik kavramlar oluşturulurken dikkat edilmesi gereken noktalar nelerdir ve nasıl bir yöntem izlenmelidir?

It is a doubtsless fact that education system has an importent influence on the development of the countries. A country's development level is directly proportional with the quality of the people living there. The better the qualities of the individuals are, the more developed a country is. It is known that one of the disciplines of science that contribute to bringing up the qualified individuals is mathematics. Mathematics teaches us asking, interrogating, searching, setting up reason-result relationship, producing solution ways and making abstraction. In addition to this, mathematics spreads a rather large area. It is in our daily life and nature. Geomerty is one of the mathematics' importent subjects and it takes up a lot of room in the person's life. Everything we see in our environment has a geometric structure. In spire of this, it is hardly understood by the students and it is qualified as abstract, boring, dislikeable. But geometry helps us to know and perceive the world in which we livefNCTM, 1989:48). According to 1MCTM(1989), the basis of geometry teaching should be built on the concepts. Thus, the basic purpose of our work has been defined as defining the difficulties that the students meet in the learning of the basic geometric concepts, producing the reasons and developing the solution ways. In the research, a measurement means named“Forming basic Geometric Shapes Concepts”that has 48 questions and a questionnaire named“The Methods and Techniques That Are Used In Teaching Mathematics Lesson”have been used.X Datum gathering means has been applied to 242 subjects that have been chosen randomly in Denizli city. For the analysis of the datums that have been obtained in the research, SPSS statistics program has been used. The results of the work are important from the point of view showing the way to the following points: 1. What do the bases of the difficulties that the students meet in perveceing basic geometric concepts build on? 2. What are the geometric concepts that have been and have not been formed in the students? Are there any misconceptions about these concepts? 3. Do the teaching methods and techniques have any influence to the forming of concept? 4. What is the relationship between the parents' education levels and the forming of geometric concept? 5. What are the points that should be paid attention and what sort of way should be followed?
