in this project, the processes of pre_selection process, the familiarization of the selection process, the selection techniques, and the processes of post-selection process were examined. A survey in relation to the selection techniques in foreign companies in istanbul was conducted. With the aim of ascertaining the most commonly techniques that are applied in the selection process of personnel., the prons and the cons of the techniques, the measures to minimize the cons., the why the techniques are applied in the selection process. Where selection is currently coordinated and where it should be coordinated, the means that subjects employ to check references, and the blank items that are relevant to job performance. And also to find out the relationship between the selection techniques and (a) practical value, (h) largeness and absorbing cost, (c) valuable results and experts, (d) usefulness and proper measuring, (e) valuable results and job related Items, (0 single technique and complete picture, and (g) turnover and proper application. Thirty foreign firms in various functional areas in Istanbul was. chosen as a sample and a nine page questionnaire was used in data collection. People of different occupations [whom most of them were personnel managers of their respective companies] completed the questionnaire. Guttman qualitative data scale was employed in data analysis because of its applicable to the questionnaire [to the data analysis of this project). The findings revealed the most commonly techniques that foreign capitals in Istanbul apply in personnel selection, the prons and the cons of the techniques, the reasons why the techniques are employed in the selection process, the measures to reduce the cons of the techniques, the departments that currently coordinate selection and where it should be coordinated, the means that foreign companies use in conducting references; and the relevant blank items to job performance. The findings also releaved the relationship between the techniques and various variables [see para 2 above]. VI
