LİSE 1 SINIF ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN MADDE VE ÖZELLİKLERİ KONUSUNU ANLAMALARINDA KAVRAM HARİTASI TEKNİĞİNİN ETKİSİ (Yüksek Lisans Tezi) Zehra KARAKUZU GAZİ ÜNİVERSİTESİ EĞİTİM BİLİMLERİ ENSTİTÜSÜ Mart 2005 ÖZET Bu çalışmanın amacı, lise-1. sınıf öğrencilerinin“Madde ve Özellikleri”konusundaki kavramları ve aralarındaki ilişkiyi anlamalarında bir eğitim aracı olan kavram haritasının başarıya etkisini ölçmektir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin konuyla ilgili ön bilgilerini, mantıksal düşünme yeteneklerini ve bilimsel işlem becerilerim kontrol altında tutarak konunun anlaşılmasında düz anlatım yöntemi ile kavram haritası tekniğinin başarıya etkilerini karşılaştırmaktır. Araştırma, Ankara'da bulunan Türk Telekom Anadolu Teknik Lisesindeki lise-1 sınıflan arasından rasgele seçilen iki şubede yapılmıştır. Sınıflardan biri kontrol grubu diğeri deney grubu olarak belirlenmiştir. Kontrol grubunda düz anlatım yöntemiyle deney grubunda ise kavram haritası tekniği ile öğretim yapılmıştır. Araştırma 2003-2004 eğitim-öğretim yılı 1. döneminde 6 hafta süreyle toplam 53 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Öğretimden önce her iki sınıfa da Bilimsel İşlem Beceri Testi, Mantıksal Düşünme Yetenek Testi, Madde ve Özellikleri Ön Bilgi Testi, Madde ve Özellikleri Kavram Testi ön test olarak uygulanmıştır. Madde ve Özellikleri kavram testi öğretimden sonra başarıyı ölçmek için her iki gruba da uygulanmıştır.Araştırmanın sonucunda elde edilen veriler SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) bilgisayar programı kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın hipotezleri t-testi ve ANCOVA (analysis of covariance) analizi kullanılarak test edilmiştir. Sonuçların değerlendirilmesi 0.05 anlamlılık düzeyinde yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlan öğretimde kavram haritaları kullanımının madde ve özellikleri konusunu kavramada daha etkili olduğunu göstermiştir. m THE EFFECT OF CONCEPT MAPPING TECHNIQUE IN THE PERCEPTION OF THE TOPIC OF MATTER AND ITS PROPERTIES OF HIGH SCHOOL 1st YEAR STUDENTS MS thesis Zehra KARAKUZU GAZI UNIVERSITY EDUCATIONAL SCIENCE INSTITUTE March 2005 ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to measure the effect of concept mapping as an educational tool on the perception of the concept matter and its properties of the high school first year students. Also the effect of the conventional lecturing approach and concept mapping technique success in the understanding of the topic has been compared keeping the prior knowledge, logical thinking and scientific process skills of the students under control. The study was carried out on two classes arbitrarily selected in Turkish Telecom Anatolian Technical High school in Ankara. One of the classes was chosen as the control and the other as the experimental group. The control group was lectured with the conventional teaching approach while the experimental groups was taught employing the concept mapping method. The study was carried out in the first term of 2003-1004 academic year for six weeks upon 53 students.Both groups were subjected to a scientific process skill test, a logical thinking test, a pre knowledge test on matter and its properties and a conceptual test on matter and its properties as the pre test. The matter and its properties conceptual test was latter employed as the post test in order to assess the success rate of both approaches.IV The data obtained from these tests were evaluated by the use of SPPS( Statistical Package for Social Sciences ) software. The hypotheses of the study were tested with t-test and ANCOVA (analysis covariance ) analysis. The data were evaluated at 0.05 significance level. The results revealed that the use of concept mapping is much more effective in the perception of matter and its properties.
