Özet

Araştırmamızın amacı; üniversiteye yeni gelen öğrencilerin genel matematik konularına ilişkin alt yapılarının ne düzeyde olduğunu belirlemek, mevcut bilgi yapılarının bilgisayar eğitimi bölümünde başarılı olabilmelerini nasıl etkilediğinin tespitini yapmaktır. Araştırma 2005?2006 öğretim yılıyla sınırlıdır. Araştırmanın evrenini Gazi Üniversitesi Endüstriyel Sanatlar Eğitim Fakültesi Bilgisayar Eğitimi Bölümü Lisans birinci sınıf öğrencileri, örneklemi ise bölümün birinci sınıf öğrencilerinden rasgele yolla seçilmiş öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemimize iki anket çalışması ve bu anketlerle birlikte matematiksel alt yapılarını ölçebileceğimizi düşündüğümüz Öğrenci Seçme Sınavı sorularından oluşan bir test uygulanmıştır. Test sonuçları değerlendirilerek, anket bilgileri ile birlikte bilgisayar ortamına aktarılmıştır. İstatistiki analiz yöntemleri SPSS programı kullanılarak uygulanmış, önceden belirlenen problemlerin çözümüne ulaşılmıştır. Buna göre; öğrencilerin cinsiyet farklılıklarının genel akademik başarıları üzerinde istatistikî olarak anlamlı bir etkisi yoktur; bireylerin matematiksel alt yapıları ve orta öğretimde mezun olunan lise türü Genel Matematik dersini algılamada önemli bir etkendir. Ve buna bağlı olarak Genel Matematik dersindeki başarı seviyesinin de, birinci sınıf genel akademik başarı not ortalamasını istatistikî olarak pozitif yönde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Başka bir deyişle matematiksel alt yapıları sağlam olan öğrencilerin bilgisayar eğitimi bölümünde başarılı olma oranı da yüksek olmaktadır. Araştırmanın sonunda ortaya çıkan sonuçlara dayalı olarak araştırmacı tarafından belirtilen önerilere yer verilmektedir.

The purpose of the study is to find out and learn the existing knowledge background of the first year students about the general mathematic who came to the computer education department, and then investigate their existing knowledge levels and their success levels. The study is limited with 2005-2006 years. The population of the study is composed by the first year undergraduate students from the department of computer education in the Industrial Arts Education Faculty. The sample is sellected randomly form these first year students. For this purpose, two questionnaire and a test composed of the ÖSS questions were given to the students to determine the mathematic levels of the students. The results of the questionnaire and the test were transferred to the computer environment and reached to the solutions of the problems. According to these findings; the gender difference of the students does not have any affect on the students? academic achievement. The mathematical background and the graduated high school type have an important effect on the perception of the General Mathematic course. Bound to this result the success level of the students effected the general achievement scoures in a positive way. In other words who has a strongest mathematical background has a strongest chance to be succesful in this department. At the end of the study, bound to the results of the study, some suggestions were given by the researcher.
