Özet
Kırım Savası (1853-1856) 19. yüzyılın en önemli savaslarından biridir. Osmanlı Devleti ve Rusya arasında baslayan savas, Fransa, &ngiltere ve Sardunya devletlerinin de Osmanlı'nın müttefiki olarak savasa girmesiyle bir kıta savasına dönüsmüstür. &stirak eden devletler açısından bakıldıgında çok önemli gelismeleri beraberinde getiren Kırım Savası, Osmanlı Devleti için de ayrı bir ehemmiyet arz etmektedir. Rusya'ya karsı &ngiltere, Fransa ve Sardunya ile ittifak yapan Osmanlı, cepheye göndermek üzere müttefiklerinin askerlerini &stanbul'da agırlamıs ve savas boyunca bunların her türlü ihtiyaçlarını gidermeye gayret etmistir. Lojistik bir üs konumunda olan Osmanlı baskenti, her bakımdan savasın asıl yükünü çekmistir. Bu tezin amacı, Kırım Savası boyunca &stanbul'un sosyal ve ekonomik durumu üzerine bir çalısma yapmaktır. Bu baglamda çalısmada, ittifak güçlerinin &stanbul'da ikameti, iasesi, cepheye sevkıyat serüvenleri islendigi gibi, cephe gerisi hizmet olan saglık hizmetlerinde de lokomotif rolü oynayan ve savasta adeta koca bir hastaneye dönüsen &stanbul'un bu yönü de ortaya konulmaya çalısılmıstır. Binlerce askerin toplanma merkezi olan &stanbul'da nüfus yogunlugundan mütevellit bazı sosyal vakalar da ortaya çıkmıs ve bu yönüyle &stanbul'un bir panaroması bu tezde çizilmeye gayret edilmistir.

The Crimean War (1853-1856) was one of the most important wars of the 19th century. The conflict has started as an Ottoman-Russian War, yet turned into a continental war with the involvement of other European states, namely England, France and Sardinia, that have collaborated with the Ottoman Empire against the Russians. Even though the Crimean War had very important consequences for all of the involved states, it has a special importance for the Ottoman Empire. Its capital city has served as the host for allied forces that was to be sent to the frontiers. Throughout the War, the Porte has struggled hard in order to answer various needs of the allied forces stationed in Istanbul. The Capital city of Empire has also served as a a logistical base for provisioning of the allied forces and thus bore the real burden of the War. The aim of this M.A. Thesis is to make a survey of the social and economic conditions of Istanbul during the Crimean War. Particular attention has been paid to study the provisioning of the soldiers of the allied forces stationed in the city, together with the issue of their dispatch to the frontiers. Another issue that has been studied is the role of the city in terms of health services offered behind the lines. During the War, the city has turned into a huge hospital, curing the soldiers injured during the War. Finally, social and cultural problems caused due to the presence of great number of foreign soldiers has been studied in the Thesis.
