Özet

SUMMARY The purpose of this research is to determine the deficencies of junior primary school teachers in diagnosis of child, additionally by determining the education needs in this field, to prepare proposals in order to develop the programmes of inservice training and initial teacher training institutions. The research was carried out in 1991-1992 education semester at 6 schools, which are located at one of the counties of Ankara called Çankaya, by taking the thoughts of 121 teachers that work at these 6 schools. Data were gathered through two questionnaire that were prepared to find the answers of subproblems. The research consits of two subproblems and the data concerrning with these subproblems were summrized as follows: THE FIRST SUBPROBLEM: These type of problems are related with the konwledge level of junior primary school teachers about the special features of primary school students, and also their opinion whether or not they show disparity depending on the professional experience. The data showed is that, as the teachers' professional experiences increase, they find themselves adequate in the development of primary term child. e THE SECOND SUBPROBLEM: It is concerning with the opinions about the attitude of the teachers, that need to be shown depending on the professional experience against the classroom behavior of children due to their development With the help of the data, it can be seen that, as the professional experiences of teachers mincrease, the cases that the teachers become undecided also increase. This situation is opposed to the first subproblem. As a result of this study it is suggested that inservice training institutions and initial teacher training institutions should pay more attention to these subjects and improve knowledge and skills in their teacher programmes.
