Özet
sletmelerde, performansın etkin olarak ölçülmesi ve dikkatli bir sekildeyönetilmesi gereklidir. Bu tezde, isletme yazınının önerdigi performans ölçümündeve yönetiminde kullanılan araç ve yöntemler incelenmistir. Bu araçlardan biri olanperformans karnesinde (balanced scorecard), finansal ve finansal olmayanperformans ölçütleri kapsamlı bir sekilde kullanılmakta ve isletmelerin strateji odaklıhale gelmesi saglanmaktadır. Yakın zamanda ortaya çıkmasına ragmen performanskarnesi, dünya çapında yaygın bir performans yönetim aracı haline gelmistir. Bu tez,Türkiye'deki 500 Büyük Sanayi sletmesindeki performans ölçüm ve yönetimsistemleri, bu isletmelerde kullanılan performans ölçütleri ve performans karnesininbu isletmelerde kullanılıp kullanılmadıgı ile ilgili bir anket çalısmasını içermektedir.Bu çalısmada, performans karnesi kullanan ve kullanmayan isletmelerin performansölçüm sistemleri karsılastırılmıstır. Sonuç olarak, performans karnesi kullananisletmelerdeki performans yönetiminin performans karnesi kullanmayan isletmeleregöre daha iyi oldugu belirlenmis ve performans karnesi kullanan isletmelerdekiyöneticilerin, isletmelerinin kurumsal performansından daha fazla memnun olduklarıgörülmüstür.

The performance should be effectively measured and carefully managed inany type of organization. This thesis reviews the performance measurement andmanagement tools and techniques offered by the management literature. One of thesetools is the balanced scorecard that provides a comprehensive set of financial andnonfinancial performance measures for the organizations to be strategy focused.Although introduced a short time ago, the balanced scorecard has become awidespread performance management tool throughout the world. The thesis includesa survey on the implementation of performance management systems, importanceand use of performance measures, and the adoption of the balanced scorecard in thebiggest 500 Turkish manufacturing companies. In this study, the comparison of theperformance measurement systems of the balanced scorecard users and nonusersshows that the performance management is better implemented and the managers aremore satisfied with the corporate performance in the balanced scorecard users.
