All over the world and also in our country family companies have a big share in total number of small and medium size companies. From this information we can understand importance of family companies. Family companies have many advantages . However compared to other type of companies their lifetime seems to be shorter. The main reasons for this statement can be explained as follows. Family companies can not adapt themselves to information and communication technologies as effecient and as fast as the other companies. The reason behind this is the conservative managing style they believe in. Family companies also have many administrative , financial , cultural advantages. But , conflicts between family members and negative results of these conflicts can only be solved and controlled by institutionalization. Family companies should be managed efficiently and should make thir future plans. Owners and administrators of family companies should understand that companies must not and can not be managed by daily psychological conditions and emotions. There is an obligation for existence of written and accepted rules valid for general and special conditions. Employment of professionals is very important for objective decision mechanism. To avoid possible future conflicts company , company constitution should be preparedand announced. Company constititon should include critical topicsin details like , inheritance , authority , duties , responsibilites . Education of the new generation should be handled seriously but it should never be forgotten that it is not an obligation for every member of the family to work in the company. Also it must be remebered that the company can be carried to new generations only if company profits are thought to be above the family profits.
