Özet
Gerçekçi Matematik Eğitimi (GME) matematik öğretimi ve öğreniminin ihtiyaç duyduğu reformu gerçekleştirmek üzere ortaya konulmuş bir eğitim yaklaşımıdır.Bu çalışmanın amacı, GME yaklaşımının ilköğretim 7. sınıf öğrencilerinin tam sayılarla çarpma ve bölme ile ilgili başarılarına ve matematiğe karşı tutumlarına etkisini araştırmaktır. Erzurum il merkezinde, Saltukbey İlköğretim Okulu 7. sınıftaki yaş ortalaması 13 olan, gönüllü 20 öğrencinin deney, 19 öğrencinin kontrol grubunda yer aldığı çalışma, 2007?2008 eğitim-öğretim yılının ilk döneminde yürütülmüştür.Araştırmada, genel olarak ezberci bir öğretim yaklaşımıyla öğretilen, öğrencilerin tam olarak kavramakta güçlük çektiği ?tam sayılarla çarpma ve bölme? konusu ele alınmıştır. Konunun öğretimi kontrol grubunda geleneksel öğretim yöntemlerine, deney grubundaysa GME yaklaşımına uygun olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Gruplar arasında anlamlı bir farkın olup olmadığını görmek amacıyla 6. sınıf konularının yer aldığı, 20 soruluk denklik testi yapılmıştır. Uygulama ve etkinliklerden önce tam sayılarla çarpma ve bölme bilgisini ölçen, 15 soruluk bir ön test uygulanmıştır. Aynı test, uygulamalar ve etkinliklerden sonra gruplar arasını değerlendirme yapmak amacıyla son test olarak tekrar uygulanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda doğabilecek duyuşsal farkları ortaya koyabilmek için de ?Matematik Öğretimi Hakkında Öğrenci Anketi? kullanılmıştır.Bu çalışma deneysel bir araştırmadır. Elde edilen veriler, 0,05 anlamlılık düzeyinde eş örneklemler ve bağımsız örneklemler t-testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada tam sayılarla çarpmanın öğretiminde, GME yaklaşımına göre düzenlenen öğrenme etkinliklerinde yer alan öğrencilerin, geleneksel öğretme etkinliklerinde yer alan öğrencilerden daha başarılı olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğrencilerin tam sayılarla bölme başarısında ve matematiğe karşı olumlu tutum geliştirmelerinde gruplar arasında anlamlı bir fark gözlenmemiştir.

Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) is an educational approach to answer the need to reform the teaching and learning of mathematics.The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of RME approach on 7th grade students? achievements in performing multiplication and division of integers and students? attitudes towards mathematics. The research was conducted on 7th grade voluntary students whose average age is 13 enrolled at Saltukbey Elementary School in Erzurum during the first academic term of 2007?2008. The experiment group was composed of 20 students and the control group was composed of 19 students.In the survey, ?multiplication and division of integers? was chosen to be searched because the topic has been generally taught through memorization and students have had difficulty in comprehending. While teaching the topic, traditional teaching methods in control group and RME approaches in experiment group were followed. Before the research, in order to find out whether there has been a significant difference between the groups, equivalence test composed of 20 questions related with 6th grade topics was applied. Also before applications and activities to evaluate the performance in multiplication and division of integers of students, 15 questioned pre-test was carried out. The same test was applied after the applications and activities to assess both groups. ?Pupils? Questionnaire about Mathematics Teaching? scale was used to detect possible affective differences that would be the result of the study.This survey is an experimental study. Acquired data were analyzed through one sample and independent sample t-tests at 0,05 significance level. At the end of the study it was found that students participated in RME learning activities were more successful performing integer multiplication compared with the students participated in traditional teaching activities. Between experiment and control groups, a significant difference was not found in students? performance at integer division and developing positive attitudes towards mathematics.
