Özet
Bu çalışmada, 'gecekondu' kavramı tanımlanmış ve konunun yasal yönü ile Ankara çevresindeki gecekonduların tarihsel gelişimi tartışılmıştır. Altındağ gecekondu bölgesi örnek bölge olarak seçilmiş, sosyal özellikleri incelenmiş ve mekansal ve kentsel doku örüntüleri elde edilmiştir. Sonuçta, yapılan alan araştırmasıyla evlerin planları çıkarılmış ve kullanım örüntüleri gözlemlenerek tümü değerlendirilmiştir. Bu yolla gecekonduların iyileştirilmesi sırasında hangi örüntülerin kullanılması gerektiği tartışılmıştır.

In this study, the 'gecekondu' concept is examined and discussed from several view points. One of them is the legal aspect and the other is the historical development in Ankara. By choosing the Altındağ gecekondu region as a case, firstly the social characteristics are examined and then the spatial texture and the urban texture patterns are studied. The patterns which make the life of gecekondu people easier are discussed. Lastly by a field research, the plans of the behavioral patterns in the housing environment are observed, examined and evaluated for a better understanding of patterns which really must be used in the improvement of gecekondus.
