ABSTRACT DESIGN AND REALIZATION OF MICROWAVE NARROWBAND BANDPASS FILTERS USING STRIPLINE LIKE STRUCTURES TEKİN, Ibrahim M.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Nevzat Yıldırım September, 1992, 147 Pages In this thesis, some filter topologies are investigated for design and realization of microwave bandpass filters having fractional bandwidths of less than 10%. Through the designs, equi ripple passband general stopband filters are used. For the realization of 2. 0-2. 25 GHz and S. 75-6. 0 GHz filters, microstripline application is investigated and inverter usage in filters are also covered. To obtain alternative techniques to design narrowband bandpass filters, half angle transformation is used on a HPF. The filter, 5.75-6.0 GHz, is realized in stripline structure. Furthermore, a novel transformation is obtained which relaxes the impedance values of the elements of the filter liihaving finite transmission zeros. This transformation is a generalization of well known Geffe transformation. Using this transformation, 5. 75-6. 0 GHz filter is redesigned using suspended substrate stripline structure. The simulation results both for stripline design and suspended substrate stripline design are quite in agreement with the realization results.
