Özet

?Üreme? ünitesinin 5E modeline göre öğretiminin öğrencilerin kavramsal anlama ve tutumları üzerine etkisinin araştırıldığı bu çalışma, 2008-2009 eğitim- öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde İzmir ili Şirinyer Lisesi'nin iki farklı 10. sınıfında öğrenim görmekte olan 36 öğrencinin katılımı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir.Çalışmada ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmış, geleneksel yöntemle (anlatım yöntemi) öğretim yapılan öğrenciler kontrol grubunu, 5E modelinin uygulandığı öğrenci grubu ise deney grubunu oluşturmuştur. Kontrol ve deney gruplarındaki öğrencilere, öğretim öncesi ve sonrasında, geliştirilen ?Biyoloji Dersine Karşı Tutum Ölçeği? ve açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan ?Üreme Ünitesi Kavramsal Anlama Testi? uygulanmıştır. Bunların haricinde, öğretim sonrası bu gruplardan sekiz öğrenci ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tutum ölçeğinden elde edilen verilere, SPSS 11.0 programında bağımsız örneklem t testi ve eşleştirilmiş t testi yapılarak bunlar analiz edilmiş, kavramsal anlama testi ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmelerle toplanan veriler ise tablolaştırılarak çözümlenmiştir.Çalışmada açığa çıkan kavram yanılgıları ve öğrencilerin kavramsal değişimleri incelendiğinde, 5E öğrenme modeline uygun olarak geliştirilen rehber materyalin, deney grubu öğrencilerinin kavramsal değişimleri üzerinde olumlu bir etkisinin olduğu ve 5E modelinin kavramsal anlama açısından geleneksel öğretimden daha başarılı olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmaktadır. Deney grubunun ön ve son test tutum puanı ölçümleri arasında ise herhangi bir anlamlı fark bulunmamıştır.

This study by which it was searched the effect of reproduction unit?s instruction based on 5E model on students? conceptional understandings and attitudes was conducted in the second semester of 2008-2009 academic year in the two ongoing classes of Sirinyer High School located in Izmir.The study was designed as a quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test control group design. The control group was the group to which the lectures were explained by the teacher using the textbooks and the experimental group was the group on which 5E learning model was implemented. To both the control group and experimental group, ?Attitude Scale Towards Biology Lesson? and ? Conceptual Understanding Test Regarding The Reproduction Unit? consisting of open-ended questions were administered prior to and after the instruction. Other than these instruments, semi-constructed interviews were conducted with eight students from these groups after the instruction. The data obtained from the attitude scale was analyzed with independent-samples t test and paired-samples t test using SPSS 11.0 program. The data gathered from the conceptual understanding test and semi-constructed interviews was analyzed as tables.In the consequence of the study, when the misconceptions and the conceptual changes were examined, it was determined that the course-material based on 5E learning model affected the conceptual changes of the students in the experimental group positively. In addition, 5E model was detected as more successful than the the traditional teaching method in terms of conceptual understanding. After the data analysis made for the attitude scale, it was seen that no significant mean difference between the pre-test and post-test was found in the experimental group.
