Muhammed Raşid Efendi (doHcll48/A]il735), was one of the important historian and poet of XVIII " century 0 Studies of our time, was generally concentrated on his historion side* However, his poetic side was not examined sufficiently» There are only a few work about his poetic side» Although Raşid has a detailed divan and the sources about him, mentioned that he vas a good poet, this subject was neglectedc So this is the most important effect for the preparation of this thesis. This project was accepted by the Council of Management of the institute of Social Science of Ankara Ünivercity. The purpose of this thesis was Raşid1 s life, his works, his literary personality, bibliography, result, critical edition and index» In the area of Old Turkish Literature, the most important phase which should be done in the biographic study is the forma tion of the critical edition which belongs to poet's work. And the other parts can be completed after this By this purpose, we establish 22 manuscript copies of Raşid' s Divan from Turkey's Libraries and four of them (Üniver city Library Ty.îtfo.Sf'^/i and Ho. 414, National Library Ali Emiri Efendi Manzum Eserler Ho «152, Museum of Topkapi Palace, Treasury Library Ho «910) was mainly taken for the formation of the text, both the truthfulness of the texts and the number of poems included. Raşid's Divan is a detailed divan which consist of 27 ka- sides, 54 poem of history, 1 tahmis, 1 müsemmen, 4 şarkıs, 1 tak riz, 245 gazel©,- 12 kat 'as, 3 rubaies, 16 matlas, 11 müfrets»
