İİİ ABSTRACT This study is carried out for the purpose of discussing the significant place of the methods, dril Is and communicative activities in teaching grammar by using Building Strategies in EFL classes at Gazi University. The first chapter aims to present the background to the study as well as the problem, purpose and the method. The second chapter deals with the history of language teaching and the major methods in language teaching. The third chapter concerns itself with the basic techniques in teaching gram mar. In chapter four, structural pattern drills used in teach ing grammar are discussed. Chapter five is concerned with a sample grammar lesson plan. Chapter six is the conclusion part of this thesis in which some suggestions in teaching grammar communicatively are briefly expressed to remark the future language education at Gazi University.
