Özet
Tuval Resmi Restorasyonunda Yanlış Uygulamalar ve Önermeler? başlıklı bu tezin amacı; `restorasyon' kavramının doğru değerlendirilmemesi nedeniyle tuval resmi restorasyonunda yapılan hatalara işaret etmek ve doğruları ortaya koymaktır.Tezin, bu konuda Türkiye'de ve Türkçe olarak hazırlanan ilk tezlerden biri olması nedeniyle; sadece hataların altını çizmek ve doğrular önermekle yetinilmemiş; daha kapsamlı olarak, restorasyonun tarihçesine, teorisine, restorasyon ilkelerine, detaylı olarak yapısal ve estetik restorasyonların uygulanma yöntemlerine, restorasyonda kullanılan yanlış ve doğru, eski ve yeni materyallere ve bunların özelliklerine yer verilmiştir.Buna göre, birinci bölümde restorasyonun tanımı yapılmıştır. Restorasyon; tamir, yenileme ve konservasyon kavramlarından ayrılmıştır.İkinci bölümde, restorasyon tarihi özetlenmiş; daha restorasyon kavramı ortada yokken görülen koruma amaçlı müdahalelere, insanoğlunun din ya da politika uğruna değiştirdiği, kesip biçtiği eserlere ve ilk bilinçli girişimlere değinilmiştir.Üçüncü bölümde, 20.yüzyılda belirli düşünür ve sanat eleştirmenleri öncülüğünde oluşan restorasyon teorisi incelenmiş, restorasyonun ilkeleri adlandırılmış ve etik sınırları çizilmiştir.Dördüncü bölüm, tezin ana yapısını oluşturur ve tuval resmi restorasyonu aşamalarında görülen hatalara odaklanır. Gözlem ve belgeleme, temizlik, yapısal ve estetik restorasyon aşamalarına tek tek değinilmiştir. Belli başlı yanlışların adı konmuş; sakıncalı bulunan geleneksel yöntem ve materyaller yerine yeni yöntem ve materyaller önerilmiştir.Tarihte olduğu kadar günümüzde de eserleri tehlike altına sokan yanlış restorasyonlar söz konusudur. Bugün, her şeyden önemlisi, bir esere müdahale etmeden önce durup düşünmek, gerekli analiz ve değerlendirmeleri yapmak gerekir. Her eser ayrı bir vakadır, ayrı bir değerlendirme gerektirir. Kimi zaman müdahale etmemek daha doğrudur. Esere maksimum saygı için, minimum müdahale yapılmalıdır.

The aim of this thesis, entitled as ?Painting Restoration - Errors and Suggestions?; is to point out the common mistakes seen in canvas painting restoration, caused by the analytical deficiency of `restoration? as a concept, and to propose legitimate methods.This is one of the first thesises written on this subject in Turkey. Therefore, not only does it indicate mistakes and suggest proper ways; but also, includes the history, theory and principles of restoration, the detailed application methods of structural and aesthetic restoration, and the traditional materials as well as the innovative ones, with a more extensive content.In the first part, `restoration? is defined. It is disassociated from `repair?, `renewal? and `conservation.?The second part summarizes the history of restoration; mentioning the protective interventions prior to the development of the concept of restoration, the artworks that have been altered and ruined to serve the political and religious goals of humanity, and the first conscious attempts.In the third part, the theory of restoration, which was formed by the pioneering intellectuals and art critics of the 20th century, is examined. The principles of restoration are signified; and the ethical boundaries are drawn.The forth part is the main body of the thesis, focusing on the errors done in canvas painting restoration. All the phases, as in observation and documentation, cleaning, or stuctural and aesthetic restoration, are metioned individually. Specific errors are indicated. Instead of the traditional methods and materials, innovative ones are suggested.Inaccurate restorations, which endanger the art works, are still done. Today, the most important aspect is to stop and reflect before any intervention, and to carry out all the necessary examinations and evaluations. Every art work is a different case, and needs a different evaluation. Sometimes it is better not to intervene. For the sake of ultimate respect for the art work, minimum intervention is vital.
