-31- SUMMARY This study was made to determine the most suitable seed tuber size for sarly potato production under Çukurova Conditions. The field trial arranged in randomized block design with four replications was conducted in the research area under lowland conditions of Field Crops Departmant of Agricultural Faculty, Çukurova university. In the research, five different seed tuber sizes with Afferent weight such as 140-150 g (much great tubers), 60-90 g (great tubers), 50-60 g (middle tuber), 30-40 g (small tubers) and 70-75 g (cut tubers) from Resy potato cultivar were used a seed tuber. In the study, tuber yield, mean tuber yield per plant, mean tuber weight, number of tubers per plant, percents of small, middle and groat tubers in the yield and days to 50 X emergence were studied. The results nf this study were summarled as following. 1. Tuber yield: Tuber yield was influenced by seed tuber size and the highest yield was obtained from the plots in which much great seed tubers were planted. 2. Mean tuber yield per plant: Mean tuber yield per plant varied in relation to seed tuber size, and the heaviest tubers were obtained from the plots in which much great tubers were planted. 3. Mean tuber weight per plant: Mean tuber weight per plant was influenced by seed tuber size. The heaviest tubers were obtained by using the much great seed tubers. 4. The number of tubers per plant: The seed tuber size affected the number of tubers per plant, and the highest number of tubers per plant was obtained by using great seed tubers. 5. Percent of small tubers in yield: Seed tuber size effected the percent of small tuber in the yield, and the highest percent of small tubers in the yield was obtained from the plots in which small seed tubers were planted..32- 6. Tbe percent of middle tubers in yield: The seed tuber size effected the percent of middle tubers in yield, and the highest percent of middle tubers In yield was obtained by using the middle seed tubers. 7. The percent of great tuber in yield: The percent of great tubers In yield was influenced by seed tuber size. The highest percent of great tubers in yield was obtained by using much great seed tubers. &. Days to 50 % emergence: Days to 50 % emergence was influenced by seed tuber size. Tbe latest 50 & emergence was observed in plots in which the cut seed tubers were planted.
