Özet

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, İlköğretim 6.Sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde örnek olay yöntemi kullanımının öğrencilerin eleştirel düşünme becerileri, ders başarıları ve derse yönelik tutumlarına yönelik etkilerini belirlemektir. Araştırma, 6. Sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersi birinci ünitesi olan ?Sosyal Bilgiler Öğreniyorum? ünitesi boyunca ve yaklaşık 6 hafta süresince sürdürülmüştür. Çalışma, öntest-son test kontrol gruplu desene göre dizayn edilmiştir. Bu çerçevede, İstanbul ili Anadolu yakasında bulunan bir devlet okulunun 6.sınıfları arasından iki sınıf seçilmiş ve kura ile biri deney diğeri de kontrol grubu olarak atanmıştır. Uygulama öncesinde, deney ve kontrol grubuna ön testler uygulanmıştır. Çalışmada, veri toplama aracı olarak Cornell eleştirel düşünme testi, başarı testi ve tutum ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Deney grubunda ünite, örnek olay yöntemine dayalı etkinliklerle; kontrol grubunda ise geleneksel yöntemle işlenmiştir. Ünite sonunda veri toplama araçları tekrar uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada toplanan verilerin analizinde bağımsız iki örnek t testi ve bağımlı iki örnek t testleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada, ilköğretim Sosyal Bilgiler Dersinde örnek olay yöntemi kullanımının öğrencilerin eleştirel düşünme becerileri, ders başarıları ve derse yönelik tutumları üzerinde olumlu yönde etkiye sahip olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of using case study technique at the primary school 6th grade social studies students? critical thinking skills, course achievements, and attitudes towards the course. The research was processed through the first unit of 6th Grade Social Studies course ?Learning Social Studies? and lasted approximately 6 weeks. The study was designed pursuant to ?pre-test post-test control group model?. The practice regarding the study was conducted in a state school where is in Anatolian side of Istanbul. Among the 6th grade classes of the school, two classes were chosen and randomly defined as experimental group and control group. Before the practice, pre-tests were performed on the groups. In the study, Cornell critical thinking test, achievement test, and attitude scale were used as data gathering implements. The unit was taught on the experimental group with the activities based on the case study technique as well as on the control group with the traditional method. By the end of the unit, the data gathering implements were performed again. Data obtained in the study was analyzed by using Independent and Paired samples t tests. As a result of the study, it was indicated that the using of case study technique in primary Social Studies Course has an affirmative effect on the pupils? critical thinking skills, the course achievements, and attitudes towards the course.
