Özet
Bir bölgede turizmin gelişmesi; sadece klimatik, manzara, doğal yaşam ve kültürel kaynaklar gibi çekiciklere bağlı değildir. Bu çalışma Bozcaada'da turizm faaliyetini etkileyen siyasal süreçleri ve dünya konjonktüründe meydana gelen değişmeleri incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Siyasal ekoloji temelinde çevre- insan ilişkisinin siyasal boyutunu göstermeye çalışmaktadır. Özellikle son yıllarda Bozcaada'ya taşıma kapasitesinin üzerinde turist akını bulunmaktadır. Acaba adada turizm siyasal süreçlerle mi kontrol edilmektedir? Jeopolitik açıdan önemli konumda yer alan sahada `korumacılık ve sürdürülebilirlik' anlayışı üzerinde ne kadar durulmaktadır? Bununla ilgili temel sorunlar ve çözümleri nelerdir? Çalışmayı gerçekleştirmek için alanda saha çalışması yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma sırasında yerel yöneticiler, turizm işletmecileri, esnaf, bağcı gibi yerel halkla görüşülmüş, adaya gelen turistler ve turizm faaliyeti gözlemlenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları adadaki turizm faaliyetinin uluslararası sistem, Avrupa Birliği'nin etkisi ve bölgesel konjonktür değişmeleri ile şekillendiğini göstermektedir. Ayrıca bu siyasal süreç adayı ekolojik açıdan korumuştur. Bu doğallığın adayı turizm açısından avantajlı duruma getirdiği tespit edilmiştir. Çalışma adada ortaya çıkabilecek çevresel değişikliği biyolojik, sosyolojik, ekolojik, ekonomik ve siyasi gibi tüm açılardan göstererek bütüncül kararların üretilmesine olanak sağlayacaktır.

The development of tourism in a region does not depend on only a set of attractions such as climate, view, natural life and cultural sources. This study aims to deal with the political processes which affect the tourism activities in Bozcaada along with the changes that take place in the world conjuncture. It tries to demonstrate the political dimension of the relationship between environment- human on the basis of political ecology. There have been an influx of tourists to Bozcaada in recent years, which is above its capacity. Is the tourism on the island controled through political processes? To what extent the mentality of ?preservation? and ?sustainability? are dwelled upon in a geographically important field? What are the main problems and solutions to them? A field study been conducted for the realization of the research. In the course of this study, the local people such as the local directors, tourism operators, artisans, winegrowers have been talked and the trourists who visited the island and the tourism activities have been observed. The results of the research reveal that the tourism activities on the island are shaped by the international system, the affect of the European Union and the conjuncturel changes. In addition, this political process has ecologically protected the island. It has been established that this naturalness brought the island to an advantageous position in terms of tourism. The study is going to enable the production of holistic decisions by devulging the environmental change which may occur from the biological, sociological, ecological, economic and political perspectives.
