Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, lise öğrencilerine yönelik model bir modern biyoteknoloji - tüketici eğitimi programı geliştirerek, hazırlanan eğitim programı modelinin etkinliğini saptamaktır. Araştırmanın lise öğrencileri üzerinde yürütülmesinin nedeni, genç tüketiciler olarak tüketim sürecinde karar verme rolünü üstlenmeleri ve yükseköğretime daha bilgili ve donanımlı geçiş yapabilmelerini sağlamaktır. Mersin il merkezinde bulunan liselerde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin oluşturduğu örneklem, 3 farklı sosyo ? ekonomik düzeyden okulu içermektedir. 89 kız, 97 erkek olmak üzere toplam 186 öğrenci araştırmaya katılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler cinsiyet ve sosyo-ekonomik düzey değişkenleri göz önünde bulundurularak incelenmiştir. Öğrencilere uygulanan eğitim programının etkinliğini belirlemek amacıyla ön test ve son test ortalama puanları arasındaki fark, ?ilişkili gruplarda t-testi? ile analiz edilmiştir. Fark bulunan sorularda farkın hangi gruptan kaynaklandığını belirlemek için ?Tukey? testi, öğrencilerin biyoteknoloji ve tüketici haklarına yönelik farkındalık düzeyleri ve görüşlerini saptamak amacıyla hazırlanan 4 anket sorusunda ise ?khi-kare analizi? uygulanmıştır.Eğitim programına katılan öğrencilerin %82.7'si biyoteknoloji terimini, %94.6'sı ise genetiği değiştirilmiş organizma terimini daha önce duyduklarını belirtmişlerdir. Tüketici haklarının farkında olduklarını belirtenlerin oranı %60.7 iken, biyoteknolojinin bir ders olarak müfredat kapsamına alınmasını isteyenler %61.2 oranındadır. Öğrencilerin, modern biyoteknoloji-tüketici eğitimi aldıktan sonra, programın içeriğinde yer alan konularla ilgili bilgilerinin anlamlı bir şekilde arttığı belirlenmiştir (p 0.05). Eğitime katılan kız ve erkek öğrencilerin eğitim programından yararlanma düzeyleri anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemiştir. Sosyo-ekonomik düzey değişkeni dikkate alındığında da, düşük, orta ve yüksek sosyo-ekonomik düzeydeki öğrencilerin ortalama puanlarının artışında anlamlı bir fark gözlenmemiştir (p>0.05). Üniteler bazında değerlendirme yapıldığında ise, öğrencilerin en fazla puan artışı (2.1) elde ettikleri ünite ?Modern Biyoteknoloji ve Tüketici? konulu 3. ünitedir. ?Modern Biyoteknoloji ve Tüketici Eğitimi? içerikli 1. Ünite ile ?Modern Biyoteknoloji-Ulusal ve Uluslararası Düzenlemeler? içerikli 4. Ünitenin eğitim programı sonrasındaki ortalama puan artışları eşittir (1.7, 1.7). ?Sosyo-Ekonomik Gelişme ve Modern Biyoteknoloji? ünitesine ilişkin ortalama puan artışı ise diğer ünitelere göre daha düşüktür (1.1).Araştırma sonuçları, lise öğrencilerinin modern biyoteknoloji-tüketici eğitimi konularında sistemli bir eğitime ihtiyaç duyduklarını ve geliştirilen eğitim programının bu ihtiyacı karşılayabildiğini göstermektedir.

The subject of this research is, to develop a model modern biotechnology-consumer education program, and determine its efficacy. The reason for conducting this research on high school students is that young consumers take the role of decision makers and allow this population to move on to university education with more information and capability. The samples created by the students who study in the city center of Mersin include the schools having 3 different socio-economic levels. Totally 186 students - 89 female and 97 male participated in the survey. The data obtained was reviewed considering the factors of sex and socio-economics levels. The difference between average scores of pre-test and post-test for the purpose of determining the effectiveness of education program applied the students with t-test in the groups associated. In the questions which have variances,“Tukey”test was applied in order to determine which group caused the difference and“Chi-square analysis”was applied for 4 survey questions which were prepared in order to determine levels of awareness of students about biotechnology and consumer levels.82.7% of the students participating in the training program stated that they heard te term biotechnology where as 94.6% of the students participating in the training program stated that they heard the term of the genetically modified organisms previously. While the rate of those stating that they are aware of their consumer rights is 60.7%, the rate of those who wish biotechnology to be included in the curriculum as a subject is 61.2%. After students take modern biotechnology-consumer education, their knowledge about points mentioned in the program were found to be increased in a meaningful way (p 0.05).Beneficial levels of male and female students who participated in the training program did not show a significant difference. Considering the socio-economic status variables, there was not a significant difference in increase in average scores of students in low, medium and high socio-economic levels (p>0.05). When evaluation is made on the basis of units, the unit that the students increased their scores most (2.1) is 3rd Unit named“Modern Biotechnology and the Consumer”.After the training program, the average score increases of 1st Unit named ?Modern Biotechnology and the Consumer Education? and 4th Unit named ?Modern Biotechnology, National and International Regulations? are equal (1.7, 1.7). The increase in the average scores for unit ?Socio-Economic Development and Modern Biotechnology ?is lower than all other units (1.1).Research results show that high school students need a systematic training about modern biotechnology-consumer education and the training program developed meets this requirement.
