Özet
1962'de yayınlanan Bilimsel Devrimlerin Yapısı adlı eseriyle tüm bilim çevrelerinde büyük bir yankı uyandıran Thomas Samuel Kuhn, daha önce var olan bilimsel tartışmaların seyrini çok kısa bir sürede değiştirmeyi başarmış önemli bir düşünürdür. Hem bilim felsefesi hem de bilim tarihi ile ilgili görüşleriyle bilimin yeniden anlamlandırılmasında bütünsel bir tavır takınan düşünür, geleneksel bilim yorumlarından farklı bir biçimde yeni ve daha kapsamlı bir bilimsel anlayış inşa etmeye çalışmıştır. Bilimin geleneksel söylemin iddia ettiği gibi birikimsel bir biçimde ilerlemediğini ve bilimsel incelemede bilime dair bir çok farklı unsurun da en az geleneksel yöntem tarafından belirlenen diğer unsurlar kadar önemli olduğunu savunan Kuhn, özellikle paradigma adını verdiği genel çerçeveyi, hem bilimin icrasında hem de tarihselliğinde merkezi bir konuma yerleştirmeye çalışmıştır. Ona göre bilim, mevcut paradigma ekseninde belirlenen kurallara göre yapılmaktadır ve devrimsel değişimlerle yerini yeni bilimsel anlayışlara bırakabilecek türden bir süreci ifade etmektedir. Kuhn'un paradigma eksenli bu devrimsel bilim modeli, özellikle bilimin gerçekleştirilmesi adına objektivizm ve rölativizm tartışmalarının yeniden gündeme gelmesini sağlamıştır. Bu bağlamda, başlangıçta ortaya koyduğu görüşlerin ardından sonraki dönemlerde kendisine yöneltilen rölativist iddialarını sürekli olarak reddeden Kuhn, amacının bilimde rölativizme kapı aralamak olmadığını sadece bilimin işleyişinden hareketle bir durum tespiti olduğunu vurgulamıştır.

Thomas Samuel Kuhn, who had repercussions among all scientific communities with his work called The Structure of Scientific Revolutions published in 1962, is a very important philosopher who managed to change the progress of former scientific argumentations. The philosopher, who had a holistic view at re-explanation of the science with his views on both science philosophy and science history, tried to construct a new and more comprehensive scientific perception unlike traditional scientific methods. Kuhn claimed that science doesn?t progress in a cumulative way as claimed in traditional expressions, additionally; in scientific researches lots of different components are as important as the determined components of traditional science. Kuhn tried to set the general framework that he calls paradigm at a central location both at scientific studies and history. According to him, science is made under the determined rules of the axis of the existing paradigm and it expresses a period which can be replaced by new scientific perceptions with revolutionary changes. The new paradigm centered revolutionary science model of Kuhn procured the argumentation of objectivity and relativity become a current issue. In this context, after the views he introduced at the beginning he was claimed as relativist but he always rejected those claims and he emphasized that his main objective was not opening a way to relativity but just making a due diligence with the acting of science.
