This study examines the topic of 'trust in organizations' which is rapidly and increasingly gaining interest in international literature. Apart from the application of foreign literature findings to our own national settings, the study has two dimensions. Firstly, the employees' propensity to trust is measured. Next, the same employees' degree of trust in their superiors is examined through a trustworthiness test. We further aimed to analyze the relationship (if any) among demographics like gender, age, number of years worked and education levels on the degree of propensity to trust and the degree of trustworthiness. The scales of measurement for the Propensity to Trust and the Trustworthiness Tests were both developed after conducting several questionnaires. A total of 91 stock brokers employed at various banks and other financial intermediaries participated in the study. The analysis revealed the following main results • In contrast to foreign literature, the propensity to trust and the trustworthiness test results have pinpointed at not three but four factors. • The employee and superior demographics have not been effecting the propensity to trust and the trustworthiness test results as much as expected.
