Özet (Çeviri)
This thesis focuses on recording, analysis and clinical applicability of electrogastrography. Electrogastrography, a term similar to electrocardiography, is referred to the noninvasive technique of recording electrical activity of stomach. The cutaneous method of recording is called as electrogastrogram (EGG). Stomach generates two types of electrical signals;“Slow waves”that arrange the rhythm of the gastric contractions and“Spike potentials”that reflect the strength of these contractions. Gastric slow waves have a certain frequency for humans. The normal frequency of the human electrogastric activity is three cycles per minute. Gastric electrical dysrhythmia is a symptom of the functional abnormality of the stomach. In this study, a software program analyzing raw EGG data is developed. The most widely used method to analyze EGG data is the Fast Fourier Transform method. However, a second analysis technique that is based on Autoregressive Moving Average Modeling is noteworthy and the software program is based on this second method. To test the performance and to ensure the reliability of the program, some typical problems of EGG are simulated and analyzed. The algorithm is also used to analyze the real EGG data for screerung purposes. This study also includes the comparison of the above mentioned analysis techniques according to several parameters such as resolution in time and frequency domain, necessary recording time, ability to detect instant frequency changes. Clinical Applications of EGG are very limited because of the lack of knowledge of the relationship between the gastric rhythmic activity and gastric motility. A brief overview of the studies on the clinical applicability of EGG is given in this study. Because these studies accelerate the emergence of the EGG as a clinical tool.
