The present study investigated the relationship between the moral judgments of preschool children and their developing theory of mind. It was expected that children's understanding of other people's beliefs and mental representations in false belief situations would be related to their ability to understand the interrelationship between intentions, actions and outcome and to make intention based judgments. In addition, age and gender related differences in performance were expected. Ninety five 3 to 6 year-old children attending preschools in istanbul were tested on false belief and moral judgment tasks. Contrary to the hypotheses, males and females performed on both tasks in a similar pattern, whereas a gradual improvement by age was found. Furthermore the results revealed that children's performance on false belief tasks were not associated with their intention based moral judgments.
