Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı 5E öğrenme modeline uygun etkinliklerin ortaokul 1. Sınıf öğrencilerinin matematik dersi kesirler alt öğrenme alanındaki akademik başarılarına ve derse karşı tutumlarına etkisi olup olmadığını ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçla 5. Sınıf öğrencilerinden bir deney ve bir kontrol grubu oluşturulmuştur. Uygulama 2013- 2014 eğitim- öğretim yılının birinci döneminde Bursa ilinde araştırmacının çalıştığı Emine Hasan Özatav Ortaokulu'nda yapılmıştır. Çalışmaya 5. sınıfta öğrenim görmekte olan 25'i deney ve 26'sı kontrol grubu olmak üzere araştırmacının derslerine girdiği toplam 51 öğrenci katılmıştır. Dersler 6 hafta (30 saat) boyunca; deney grubuna 5E öğrenme modeline uygun hazırlanmış etkinliklerle, kontrol grubuna ise MEB 5. Sınıf matematik ders kitabına göre işlenmiştir. Araştırmada ön test-son test kontrol gruplu deneysel model kullanılmıştır. Uygulama öncesinde ve sonrasında denkleştirilmiş deney ve kontrol gruplarına Kesirler alt öğrenme alanındaki sorulardan oluşan akademik başarı testi ve tutum testi uygulanmıştır. Ayrıca deney grubundaki öğrencilerden hem uygulama öncesinde hem de uygulama sonrasında bir matematik dersinin nasıl olduğu ile ilgili duygu ve düşüncelerini resim yoluyla ifade etmeleri istenmiştir. Öğrenciler resimleri yaptıktan sonra rastgele iki öğrenci seçilmiş ve yaptıkları resimlerine ilişkin görüşülmüştür. Uygulama sonucunda elde veriler Excell ve SPSS programları kullanılarak istatistiksel testlerle analiz edilmiştir. Test sonuçları incelendiğinde, 5E öğrenme modeline uygun etkinliklerle öğretim yapılan deney grubunun akademik başarı testi son test puanlarının kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı düzeyde yüksek vii olduğu görülmüştür. Aynı şekilde deney grubunun tutum testi son test puanları ile kontrol grubunun son test puanları arasında deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir fark oluşmuştur. Sonuç olarak 5E öğrenme modelinin öğrencilerin kesirler konusundaki akademik başarılarını ve tutumlarını olumlu yönde etkilediği görülmüştür. Araştırmanın nitel kısmında öğrencilerin matematik dersine ilişkin görüşlerini öğrenmek için resim yapmaları istenmiştir. Öğrencilerin resimleri önceden oluşturulmuş kontrol listelerine göre kategorilere ayrılmıştır. Daha sonra iki öğrenci rastgele seçilerek yaptıkları resme ilişkin görüşme yapılmıştır. Uygulama öncesinde ve sonrasında yapılan resimler ve görüşme sonuçları analiz edildiğinde, 5E öğrenme modelinin öğrenci gözünde; öğretmen imajını olumlu yönde etkilediği, matematik dersinin niteliğini arttırdığı ve daha eğlenceli hale getirdiği görülmüştür.

The purpose of this study is to reveal whether the activities appropriate for 5E Learning Model are effective to attitude toward course and to academic success in fractions sub-learning domain of math class of the 1st grade students in secondary school. In accordance with this purpose, an experimental and a control groups from 5th grade students were formed. The application was carried out in the first period of 2013-2014 academic years in Emine Hasan Özatav Secondary School in Bursa where researcher works. The participations were a total of 51 students. 26 of them were enrolled in control group whereas 25 of them were enrolled in experimental group and researcher enters their course. The lessons had been taught according to 5th grade math textbook of Ministry of Education for control group and with activities prepared appropriate for 5E Learning Method for experimental group. In this study used experimental model including pretest-posttest groups. The academic success test that consist of questions in the fractions sub-learning domain and attitude test were applied to the experimental and control groups both before and after implementation of activities. Besides, students of the experimental group ware asked for express by the way of drawing their thoughts and feelings related to how is the math course both before and after implementation of activities. After students painted, two students were randomly selected and had an interview about picture draw painted by them. Data obtained as a result of ix application were analyzed with statistical tests by using Excel and SPSS program. When test results were examined, the academic success tests' the posttest points of the experimental group trained with activities prepared appropriate for 5E Learning Model are significantly higher than control group' posttest points. In the same way, it was found that there is meaningful difference that is in favor of experimental group between attitude posttest points of experimental group and attitude posttest points of control group. Consequently, it was observed that 5E Learning Model affects positively both their academic success and attitudes about fractions of students. Afterwards, in the qualitative part of the research, students were asked for drawing a picture to learn their views on math class. The pictures were divided into categories according to previously created checklist. Thereafter, two students randomly selected were interviewed about picture draw painted by them. When interview results and pictures drawn both before and after implementation of activities were analyzed, it was revealed that 5E Learing Model affects positively teacher's image and improves the quality of math courses and makes mathematics course more fun.
