Özet
ABSTRACT The geology of the Izmir city centre and its surroundings was explained, locations and states of the abandoned andesite quarries are presented. The material and mass properties of andesites were determined the relations between the mass properties and stability problems in the quarries and the factors controlling the rock slope stabilities in the abandoned andesite quarries have been investigated. For this purposes, initially, the relation between the rock material and mass properties and weathering grade öf andesites were determined. Later, in the light of these studies, engineering geological assessments of the abandoned andesite quarries in and around the Izmir city centre were carried out. The details of the engineering geological studies carried out in seven selected abandoned andesite quarries were discussed in the limits of this thesis. Bu çalışmada, Izmir şehir merkezi ve çevresinin jeolojisi açıklanmış ve terkedilmiş andezit taş ocaklarının durumları ve lokasyonlan sunulmuştur. Andezitlerin materyal ve kitle özellikleri belirlenmiş ve onların kitle özellikleriyle terkedilmiş taş ocaklarındaki stabilite problemleri ve de kaya şev stabilitesini kontrol eden faktörler arasındaki ilişkiler araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçlar için, başlangıçta, andezitlerin materyal ve kitle özellikleriyle ayrışma dereceleri arasındaki ilişkiler belirlenmiş sonra, bu çalışmaların ışığında, İzmir içi ve çevresinde yeralan terkedilmiş andezit taş ocaklarının mühendislik jeolojisi değerlendirmeleri yapılmıştır. Seçilmiş yedi andezit taş ocağında yapılmış detay mühendislik jeolojisi çalışmaları tez kapsamı içinde tartışılmıştır.
