Since the top quark decays before either hadronization or depolarization,and its spin ip time is much larger than its lifetime, the spin properties ofthe top and anti-top quarks are reected directly in the angular distribution ofthe jets and leptons into which they decay. These distributions are determinedby t and t polarizations and the spin correlations induced by the productionmechanisms and depend on the interactions responsible for heavy quark decay.This dissertation presents the measurements of spin correlation in top quarkpair production and spin polarization in t-channel single top quark productionin proton-proton collisions at ps = 10 TeV with the CMS detector at LHC.Using simulations of muon plus jets decay of the top quark pair with theCMS detector response, and based on a total integrated luminosity of two inversefemtobarn, the spin asymmetry coecient for top quark pair production can bemeasured with a total uncertainty of 25% including the systematic errors.The top quark spin asymmetry coecients in the spectator and beamlinebases in simulated t-channel single top quark production are measured with atotal uncertainty of 20:0% and 23:4%, respectively, using the angular distributionsof only top quark decay products in a total integrated luminosity of twoinverse femtobarn.
