The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between students' attitudes toward science and the factors of age, gender and parents' education level. The Attitudes toward Science Learning (AtSL) scale (Shah & Mahmood, 2011) was employed to collect data on students' attitudes toward science. The AtSL scale addresses four factors related to the study of science including teacher interaction, keenness to learn science, enjoyment of science learning, and disinterest. A sample of 500 students was selected from 5th - 8th grade students ages 10 through 15 years at middle schools in Kütahya, Turkey. A total of 469 students completed the survey. A multiple regression analysis and Post-hoc test were used to examine mean differences in attitudes toward science among students based on age, gender, and mothers' and fathers' highest education levels. Significant relationships were found between students' attitudes toward science and all three variables. Younger students' attitudes toward science were more positive than older students' attitudes. A significant relationship between students' age and teacher interaction, keenness to learn science, enjoyment of science learning, and disinterest in science was found. Females' attitudes toward science were more positive than males' attitudes toward science. However, there were no significant relationship exist between younger females' and younger males' attitudes toward science nor between older females' and older males' attitudes toward science. The students whose fathers and mothers graduated with an undergraduate degree scored as having more positive attitudes toward science than the students whose fathers and mothers graduated elementary school.
