This dissertation investigates whether there is a relationship among financial development, financial liberalization and economic growth in Turkey by using quarterly data from1990Q2 to 2013Q1 (92 observations). Moreover, it seeks to investigate the possible contributions of the financial system to the Turkish private sector in detail. Therefore, the data are selected in line with this aim as far as possible. In the application process, as the data consists of a mix of I(0) and I(1) variables, ARDL method is performed. Moreover, after this application in order to reveal the possible direction of the causality amongst the variables, Granger causality test is employed as well. The ARDL method outcome confirms that there is no long-run relationship among the variables. Furthermore Granger causality test is unable to identify with certainty the direction of the causal connection among the variables. Thus, it is argued that Turkish financial system has not been generating a more robust credit easing infrastructure which enables sound and efficient expansion of credit to the Turkish private sector.
