Özet (Çeviri)
The main aim of this study was to examine the attitudes of the residents and the small business owners towards the socio-cultural impacts of tourism in Antalya. After reviewing the literature related to the socio-cultural impacts of tourism on host communities in details, a questionnaire was designed in order to comprehend the Attitudes of the residents and the small business owners in Antalya. One hundred and three respondents from different parts of Antalya completed the questionnaire, which was delivered personally. The results of the study indicated that the attitudes of the respondents were positive towards tourism and its socio-cultural impacts in Antalya. Furthermore, the residents also supported further tourism expansion in the area. The study results suggested that there were not varying attitudinal differences between demographic groups except the differences between age categories. It was found that the younger the respondents, the more positive the attitudes towards tourism and its accompanying socio-cultural impacts. Nevertheless, it was also found that, although both groups had positive attitude towards tourism, the small business owners had less positive attitude than the residents had. It is surprising since it was expected the results would be the exactly opposite. The reason for such expectation was the previous researches as they suggested that the respondents, who have a main business relation with tourism, have more positive attitudes that those do not have a main business involvement with tourism industry. In conclusion, even though the respondents recognised the negative socio-cultural impacts of tourism, it did not lead to opposition towards the expansion of tourism industry in Antalya. At this moment, it is worth to mention that although thirty-two of the residents had negative attitude towards the socio-cultural impacts of tourism however, all those thirty-two respondents supported further tourism expansion in the area. This result proves that the residents and the small business owners had a sense of optimism for the future of tourism in Antalya.
