The aim of this dissertation is to critically analyse the implication of immigration on the UK labour market using spatial correlation approach. The main objectives for this investigation include: to critically evaluate different kind of approaches for analysis of impact of immigration on labour markets within academic literature; to provide longitudinal analysis of the impacts of immigration on the UK labour market between 1990 and 2014; and to discuss results of spatial correlation approach towards impact of immigration on the UK labour market in the light of academic literature. The UK has seen significant rise in net migration over the decades due to the overall economic growth has been experienced by the country. It is noted that there has also been changes in the skill set of the migrants into the UK due to the changing policies and macro environment in which the economy operates. Although theoretically there is a consensus that the immigrants should negatively impact on the dynamics of the UK labour market, however the empirical results have shown negligible impact. There are number of explanations provided within the literature for this critical gap and this research is focused on using spatial correlation approach to bridge these gaps. The research investigation is based on positivism research philosophy and deductive research approach. In order to achieve the aim and objectives of this investigation the spatial correlation approach has been adopted, where the data has been taken from the LFS between 1990 and 2014 for the UK labour market. This investigation has confirmed the conclusions drawn by previous spatial correlation empirical investigations that immigration has no substantial impact on the dynamics of the labour market. It is recommended that the UK should continue to have tighter controls on the immigration in order to achieve optimum skill mix required for the positive impact of immigration on the UK labour market.
