Tourism and hospitality is the most rapidly developing sector of the global economy whose further growth is projected. While this development brings a number of advantages, there are also significant shortcomings. The issue of education and the role it plays in future employment prospcts is particularly pronounced. There has been an on-going debate on the suitability of education providers across the world to nurture high-calibre graduates possessing the skill-sets required by the industry Samsun, one of the rising destinations located at Black Sea part of Turkey, lacks academic research in terms of both tourism itself, and workforce involved in tourism. Therefore by critically analysing the topic, researcher aimed to fill this gap and open a gate for the future researches. A mixed approach used for this study in order to gain as much as data possible. The findings revealed that, though the difference created by the educated staff has been appreciated by both their uneducated colleagues and managers, their practical and linguistic skills argued by both parties. Consequently, adequacy of tourism education questioned by the interviewee managers as they claim that current curriculum of these institutions are irrelevant for the industry. Outcomes of the study points out a general high satisfaction level in the workplace. However, educated staff believes that they have to earn more, and promote faster, due to their academic knowledge. Finally based on both researches and additional insights from all parties, recommendations and future research ideas presented with the study as well.
