SUMMARY In this desertation, it has been examined the new defence structure of the Europe within the historical context after the Second World War. Besides, it has been searched for a room to Western European Union (WEU) along with the Maastricht Treaty. After having embodied the mentioned situation, the WEU-Turkey relations have been made clear by analysing its Associate Membership. In conclusion, it has been revealed that the WEU still depends on the US. military existence in Europe and its support so that it would be an ineffective organisation in order to provide European defence and security in the near future. On the other hand, WEU will probably be the most important European organisation since the Europeans wish to see it as a pure European Organisation.
