SUMMARY As we have seen that İçel area is rich in respect to oral works, we've decided to study about myths of İçel Our study consists of theoretic, investigation and written works. For the theory part we've utilized from İçel Adana, Ankarajibraries. We've mentioned the legem of İçel in the access part as we've evaluated the subject as preparing general information. We've seperatedthe Iffl legends into eight groups. Mien we were evaluating them we practised the historical, geographical coparative and sociological methods. We've mentioned the motifs of legends depending on the titles ofStith Thompson's study ealkd“Motif index of Folk LUeraiure ”f hut as we couldn't see it directly we coulin' i find out the motif numbers. Afterwards, we've evaluated the legem in respect to being“holy”,“true”,“extraordinary”and to the motifs before Mmtiism and the motifs of Islamic term beliefs. IVe've found out ' me aadent AnotoBan dvUmdhtis' cuUurel marks, mentioned the motifs of legends and stories. We've mentioned the motif type tmmbers of legends about being flabbergasted from Soon Sakaoğlu' s written - work named“ Anadom - Turk Efsanelerinde Taş Kesilme Motifi ve Bu Efsanelerin Tip Katalogu ”. In the conehismn part evaluating the 101 legends we' ve found out the value of İçel legends in Turkish kgmdteMng tradition, the cultural marks of İçel people, the effects of; 1. Ancient Turkish euMure 2. Mamism culture 3. The marks of ancient Anatolian emulations. For the MbHsgraphy pari we've onfy mentioned (he written - sources we had seen and used We've prepared the index according to individual and place names. We've also mentioned the author names thai are in the footnotes to the mdmduat names index.
