so SUMMARY The primary purpose of this work is to measure the effects of population, income per capita and distance of tourist sending countries upon the number of arrivals from those countries to Turkey by using a gravity type log-linear model » A cross - section analysis between the relevant data of 30 selected countries was performed for the years 1968- 1975 and 1980. An evident verification of the gravity model for the Turkish case was obtained, since the yearly cross-sections gave in most of the cases good and significant results. Comparative static observations between the years also indicated some stability of estimated parameters. The applied model thus showed important dependence of tourist arrivals upon the factors involved, from which a better understanding of the structural relationships of Turkish external tourism mobility can be achieved » On the other hand enamined effects of population, income per capita and distance upon the foreign tourist arrivals can be used forthe betterment of plan forecasts of arrivals of SPO. An alternative forecast by employing both the SPO estimates and our results was also developed as one of the contributions of our work to plan practice. ^^SSZ £**
