SUMMARY In this study, logistic curve 1 1 + e \ and logit transformation P logit P = In= c* +G.X 1 - P are considered. The term logit is a contraction of the phrase“logistic unit ”. A discussion of both“the Maximum Likelihood method, developed by Fisher and Minimum Chi- Square method, developed by Berkson for fitting the parameters of the logistic function is included. Principle of Maximum Likelihood involves choosing a and b as estimates of in such a way that; if they actually were c* and e,, the given observations would have the greatest probability of occurence. In the method of Minimum Logit n^4 the aim is to minimize the sum of the weigthed squared differences between the observed and expected values. The Minimum Logit -X2, estimates have been shown to be ”RBAH" (regular best asymptotically Normal) (Taylor, 1933)and thus are asymptotically equivalent to the Maximum Li kelihood estimates. The Minimum Logit nf* of Berkson is asymptotically distri- buted as.* and as is the standart Pearson il and the va lues in practice are almost identical. But for small samples Logit OC2,. in general, gives values somewhat less are smal 1. than those of the Pearson t.
