Özet
Bu çalışma İslâm-modernite ilişkisine eğitim özelinde katkı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır. II. Abdülhamid döneminde mektepler aracılığı ile yerleştirilmeye çalışılan İslâm anlayışının modern İslâm yorumları çerçevesinde değerlendirilmesi gerektiğini iddia eden araştırmamız giriş, üç bölüm ve sonuçtan oluşmaktadır. Giriş konunun teorik çerçevesinin kurulmasına, konuyla alakalı yapılmış çalışmaların değerlendirilmesine, çalışmanın peşinde olduğu sorulara, tezin sınırlarının çizilmesine ve bölümlerin tanıtımına hasredilmiştir. Birinci bölümde, mektepleşme süreci ana mantığı, gelişim seyri, II. Abdülhamid dönemindeki konumu, bu dönemde uygulanan ve 'tashih-i akâid' isimiyle zikredilen siyasetle ilişkisi, mektep sistemini inşa eden unsurlar ve müfredat düzenlemeleri çerçevesinde incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. İkinci bölüm Hamidiye dönemi mekteplerinde okutulan din ve ahlâk dersi kitaplarının tasvir, tahlil ve tenkidine ayrılmıştır. Son bölümde ise İslâm-modernleşme ilişkisi mektep sistemi merkezli ele alınmıştır.

This study aims to make a contribution to the relationship between Islam and modernity in terms of education. Our study claims that the concept of Islam which was tried to be placed through the schools during the period of Abdulhamid II should be evaluated within the modern Islamic interpretations and it consists of introduction, three parts and the conclusion. The introduction had been confined to form the theoratical frame, to evaluate the studies about the topic, to restrict the boundaries of the study and to introduce each parts. Main logic of schooling process, the development stages, the position of the process during the period of Abdulhamid II, the relationship betweeen this process and politics, the factors that had build the education system and the curriculum changes had been tried to be evaluated in the first part. The second part had been confined to criticism the books about religion and ethics during the period. In the final part, the relationship between Islam and modernity had been evaluated in terms of the educational system of that period.
