AIM: The aim of this study was to predict which patients will develop bile fistula when hydatid cyst hydatid disease is evaluated by investigating the factors affecting the development of bile fistula in liver cyst hydatid disease patients. METHODS: Between January 2016 and July 2017, a total of 55 liver cyst hydatid patients aged between 14 and 77 years who underwent surgery at Harran University Medical Faculty Hospital General Surgery Clinic were evaluated. Drainage was performed with partial cystectomy as a surgical technique in the cases. Factors affecting the development of biliary fistula include age, gender, liver cyst size, cystine location, cystic phase (using garbage classification), preoperative albendezol medication, additional disease (DM), cystine number, synchronous cyst (presence of cyst outside the liver) albumin values were evaluated as independent variables. RESULTS: 25.5% of patients were found to have biliary leakage. Fifty percent of bile leakage cases were found in the third stage of the cyst, while 41.6% of the biliary leakage were in the first stage. That is, while the rate of leakage in early stage cysts is low, the rate of leakage in advanced stage cysts is high. The mean number of cysts in biliary leakage patients was significantly higher than that of bile ducts. The total drainage of patients with biliary leakage was found to be higher than those without biliary leakage. CONCLUSION: As a result, biliary leakage is more likely to develop in advanced cysts and high number cysts. However, it has been found that the biliary leakage patients develop more intraabdominal mai. KEYWORDS: Cyst Hydatid, Bile Fistula, Liver, Biliary Leakage
