197 ABSTRACT Miftahü 'l-Luga is a Persian to Turkish dictionary written by Shaykh Mahmud in the second fifteenh (15th) century.It also contains information on Persian grammer. This work is importent, hence it provides the Turkish meanings of the Arabic and Persian words which had been incorporated into our language in the epoch of the century Ancient Anatolian Turkish. In the Introduction section of the study, after providing information on the subject and objective of the Miftahü 'l-Luga, the life and other works of the author of this dictionary, Shaykh Mahmud, were mentioned. In the examination section, phonological and morphological properties and some semantics were assessed.In this section grammatical terms included in our text were also provided under and an index. Under the text section a reliable text was tried to be formed by using the existing copies. Indices form another section of our study.In this section, there exist Turkish, Persian and Arabic indices. All words included in all sections of the dictionary except those in Preface were enlisted and reorganized in alphabetical order.So the corresponding Turkish meanings to the Persian words were presented. Miftahü 'l-Luga would be a good source for the preparation of historical dictionary of Turkish language, reliable determination of especially meaning section of our historical grammer arid etymological studies.
