Özet (Çeviri)
In physical and hydrological conditions, in other words, habitat heterogeneity is as important as biotic diversity. In European rivers, 90% of natural flood plains have been rehabilitated and river dynamics are absent at present. Improvement of nature along the river is vital to the restoration of the natural functions of the rivers. The European Water Framework Directive 2000/60 / EC requires the establishment of a monitoring network in order to determine the ecological status of the biological, physicochemical and hydromorphological elements of a river route. In this context, the hydromorphological characteristics were one of the main defining elements of the monitoring and reporting studies related to surface waters for the first time within the scope of EU environmental legislation. The RHS method was developed by Raven et al., (1997) at the beginning of 1990s. River Habitat Survey (RHS) is a method for assessing the physical character and quality of river habitats: it has been developed to help the conservation and restoration of wildlife habitats along rivers and their floodplains. Its main purpose is to provide river managers with information needed to sustain and enhance biodiversity, using catchment management plans and environmental impact assessment as two mechanisms for realising this objective. RHS is a systematic framework for the collection and analysis of data associated with the physical structure of watercourses. Data collection is based on a standard 500m length of river channel. The RHS form is four pages long and is simple to fill in. Map information collected for each site includes grid reference, altitude, slope, geology, height of source and distance from source. During the field survey, features of the channel (both instream and banks), and adjacent river corridor are recorded both the map-derived data and field data are computerised, allowing easy access to a database and rapid analysis of the information collected. In this study in the restoration area of the Perry Hall in the Tame river in the north of the United Kingdom, two different study areas were identified as a restored part and a restoration part, and a comparative study was carried out. Afterwards, the data were analyzed with the help of a special computer program and the findings such as“Habitat quality assessment”(HQA) and“Habitat Modification Evaluation”(HMS) were obtained.
